Thanks!

A friend of mine works at a printing company and he's making me a bunch of small 11" x 17" posters. If anyone wants one, PM me your shipping address.

Should make a nice poster out of your high res one and keep them in the back of the car and sell them to people who lean on your car...

You're welcome. If you want a small 11" x 17" poster, let me know.

I need a baseball bat in the back of the car for the leaners. lol.

A friend of mine wants me to try entering it into the Frank Maratta Auto Show. I've been thinking about it but I'm not sure.

bottledbird68 12-03-2012 07:58 PM

Enter it in the show. Do it now while it's still fresh before regular use takes its toll on things ;)

ZFreie 12-03-2012 11:15 PM

I really don't think they rolled out of the factory that nice lol

ILuvPizzaTimes10 12-04-2012 12:37 AM

they didnt. thats the funny thing. IF you can find a REAL survivor car look at the paint. its SO terrible back then orange peel over spray its CRAZY.

ZFreie 12-04-2012 01:04 AM

I'm not convinced big $$$ cars now are built that nice lol

Formula413 12-04-2012 01:23 AM

Having seen it in person, they aren't.

You're right Matt. I'll fill out the entry form tomorrow and see if I get accepted in.

It's moved out of Hartford, CT.

On March 2nd & 3rd 2013, it's at:

Eastern States Exposition
Home of the Big E
1305 Memorial Ave
West Springfield, MA 01089

ZFreie 12-04-2012 01:54 AM

They better accept you, don't see how they car could be any more perfect.

Ooh, at the big E this year? That's cool :)

And I only say that cause I've been around long enough and seen enough to know how it goes ;) Even garage queens aren't exempt and I know damn well you drive yours. Kudos to you for that too btw

It might depend on how many entries they already have. I would probably have a pretty good chance though since I think the space at the big E is going to be much bigger. They seemed to be very limited for space at the Hartford CT Expo Center.

Thanks! It definitely needs a cleaning. I have only put about 400 miles on it so far though.

I think I put 400 miles on my lt1 the day I bought it LOL

DavidS 12-04-2012 11:55 PM

I filled in the on-line Frank Maratta form and emailed the pictures in today. I'll have to see what happens.

I also bought some car show display booth items today. They will be for the Z, but if I get in I will probably use them 1 time for the Maratta show.

The guy selling the display items sold his 63 Corvette last year at a Mecum auction in Florida. It was a car he built. The Corvette specific signs went with the car.

Thanks Pizza!!! For painting the stands, I have 4 options:

1) Painting them white. This way they will match the white car and the stripes on the Z.

2) Painting them green to match the Z. If I get into the FM Auto Show, I would only do one indoor car show with the white car anyway.

3) Painting them gray to match the carpet. This might give the car a floating look. This option was the idea the guy who sold me the stands and show stuff.

4) Leaving them red for now and deciding what to do later.

I have one more pic of the display setup. The stands tilt the car making it easier to look in.

He sold the car at Mecum for $255,000 not including the Mecum fees:

You're probably right! Gray is now on the top of the options list.

frankzlt1 12-05-2012 11:24 AM

Nice!!!!!!

Did they get the frame at a store or a custom framing shop? I picked up a couple frames at Michael's arts & crafts and they don't look as nice as yours.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 01-01-2013 11:36 PM

I saw that vette go through on the show. How was his experience with mecum? Been debating trying it out with the 95 Camaro. Put it out with a 5 grand reserve and see what happens...

He really like it. On another forum, he wrote:

At one point, while waiting to drive onto the stage, I looked over at Barb and asked her if she was having as much fun as I was. It was exciting and we feel it was the best experience we could have hoped for.

Second, many have asked if we were nervous or apprehensive before driving the car across the block. Having given a great deal of thought prior to our arrival and having seen how the whole process worked, we didn't have any second thoughts that it was the right decision, time and place. I can tell you that, once on stage, the noise, crowd and atmosphere can seem overwhelming. But we enjoyed the excitement and just took in the whole experience. It's sure one we will always remember.

bottledbird68 01-07-2013 08:55 PM

I'm just curious how the off hours are at those auctions cause I don't think my car will see prime time. I dunno. I'm so conflicted lol. I just really want to sell the car but don't want to give it away. And now that the time is getting closer I don't know if I can bring myself to part it...

My84Z 01-07-2013 08:56 PM

Bye the time you add fees travel gas etc sell it for 3500 and call it done

Tried that. Can't even get 3500 for it locally. That's why I'm thinking new market where people have money to spend and are looking for a toy.

My84Z 01-07-2013 10:48 PM

In the spring I can't see why u can't get 4g.

I couldn't get it last spring. Only solid offer I got was for 3,000. That's why I said I'd part the car first.

My84Z 01-07-2013 11:31 PM

There is an ass for every seat put it somewhere visable. Better then losing a g or more and it doesn't sell.

DavidS 01-24-2013 01:22 PM

Found out yesterday that the white car got accepted into the Frank Maratta Auto Show. It's on March 2nd and 3rd. There is a bunch of stuff I've got to get ready. Signs, show stuff, registering the trailer, learning how to tow a trailer, etc.
