I saw they sell inserts. Is that all I need?
Yup. The poly inserts replace the rubber inserts and you reuse the metal shell.
Poly mount isn't gonna crack the trans unless his motor mount goes bad. I wouldn't worry about it. Especially at a whopping 200 hp the trans mount can hold the whole engine in place.
Haha 200hp thanks man! My 305 puts out a whopping 170 on a good day and 255ft lbs at the crank stock. Its a boat...a slow one.
yeah ls1's are really the ones that brought about that myth. higher hp. and like john sed unless motor mount rips your good.
I remember when I looked into it there were at least a couple people that actually had that happen to them. Will a 305 break the tail shaft housing? Maybe not. I just know that I wouldn't mix mounts on my car.
I was looking around and i found some moroso solid motor mounts that i think im going to buy. Should be effin awesome with the vibration and more torque to the wheels. Should be fun actually!
Highly suggest not doing solid mounts. You will not like them. I wouldnt worry about what you have one bit. Ran stock mounts and a poly trans mount on my car and it made 3x the power
