Sounds like a great plan you have and sweet find. I want it if you sell it hehee :klab: |
Oh, it it painted? I thought it was an OEM sunset orange truck with faded paint that you were about to cover in plastidip. It all makes sense now..

Cant beat an old pick-up truck. nice buy, hopefully you can figure out this knock for cheap.

Maaco has the $399.00 paint special every now and then watch out for that. Do your own scuffing and taping and the paint jobs do not look that bad, pretty good actually.

Under the hood is silver and the door jambs are silver but it was painted red or else it has body panels that are red. it's faded and there's an old fade markings of a company logo on the pass door. My g/f's son has his last lacrosse practice (We-LAX.. he's 4.5) this morning so we're going to pick up the truck after that. I'm gonna run over to my shop and change the oil. Gonna try a 15min engine flush from NAPA. Then do some Seafoam in the oil for 200 miles or so. I did the Seafoam in my 95 F150 and the oil came out blacker than anything I've ever seen. Looked like diesel oil that's never been changed. |
I have to get a body eraser and finish taking the rest of the adhesive off the doors. Gonna take the rest of the moldings off too. Truck runs great otherwise! The previous owner was something else tho. I told him I've built a couple of these engines and his response was "Woah man. you know more about this shit than I do. I've only had it for 6 months. I got it for $3600 and this guy tells me it needs a lifter." ... He was adamant about me putting AS IS on the bill of sale he didn't even grab a copy of.... ok bro... I'll take it from here... Here's the money.. He jumped back in his venture van with a squealing PS pump and took off... I went to autozone and started getting supplies. I found blunt wraps and cigar guts in the ash tray.. lol.. That explains a lot..
The ticking doesn't get quieter once warmed up. Gonna finish flushing the engine a couple times, pull the pass Valve cover and check rocker trunions, and after that If it's not quieter I'm going to drop the oil pan, check the pan for crumbs and clean the pickup. If it's still knocking, I'm going to do a ported oil pump, thicker pickup tube O-ring and LS7 OEM replacement lifters. https://scontent-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/hp...b5&oe=558836F7 https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.n...f3770d4e45706b https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...3da1dc6f1b0649 https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...771210d6e4daba https://scontent-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/hp...36&oe=5577A77E |

Not a bad find!

Marvel Mystery oil in the oil today at lunch.. I cranked the front TB's up a touch.. Not even two full turns. The front pinon seal is leaking pretty good.. Easy fix. I think I'm just going to paint this myself. I have a small HVLP gun and a DA is my garage stuff in my storage unit. I can take the tail lights off and the fender flares, rough up the body w some 220 or 500gt on a DA and spray it on the weekend. Just a flat black no clear and prime the bare spots.. 3-4 light coats. Paint the fender flares off the truck. maybe I'll get most of the red off. maybe if I can take it back down to pewter I can just get it re-cleared. it's so faded. You can still see the company name on the doors. the bed needs some work. The kid had a camper on it and the spots where someone bolted shit to the side rails. The bed liner was rigged to fit. Could use a rhino liner (Looks like $600 long bed over the rails, I can probably do it myself..)
