isnt the 5.3 and 4.8 the same block???? i think the 5.3 just has 9mm more stroke in it
i wish i owned AN ls cause i would buy a few of those from you. but they are kinda hard to put into an LT
all the cranks are the same 4.8 and up to 5.7 its the bore they changed. this makes sence and would be pretty cool if made right. my only question is what kind of R/S angles will you be getting into with a funky sroke/bore to achieve a 5.0 on an Ls platform. safe to spray or boost? that would be something.
ehhhhh wrong Pizza, 4.8 and 5.3 have the same bore (3.780"), boomer is right, the 4.8 crank is de-stroked 9MM (3.270" vs 3.622"). the 5.3, 5.7, 6.0 cranks are the same and they all use the same rods. It may not come to exactly a 5.0L(probably 4.9 something) but it will just be a .030 over 4.8. My only fear for spray and boost would be the rods and pistons, forged rods are readily available, just need to have pistons made if I can't find off the shelf ones.

Ahh ok i thought even the 4.8 was same stroke. i stand corrected.

The biggest hurdles are a light/strong connecting rod and a very stable valvetrain.People have been building setups like this for awhile and it is common to rev to 8500rpm.
Don't know if I am brave enough for 8500 :). Would be fun though!
some good shaft mounted rockers and push rods a set of killer rods and forged pistons I would do it LOL
decent amount of $$$ tho boom boom i dn 8500rpms is highhhh

Batman this build sounds real interesting! I like it, but how cheap is REALLY cheap? I like seeing machines make engine parts woooooot keep us updated :D I can design the pistons for you in solidworks then just give you the sketches to machine them sound good? haha |
