irockidz28 07-11-2010 10:13 AM

oh man that sucks idk if i could handle myself if my car got brought to me like that but atleast you can salvage some stuff from it for the next one

Last of a Breed 07-11-2010 12:12 PM

Those pics make baby Jesus cry. Good to see you're alright after those pics, that is bad.

ls6monte 07-11-2010 02:11 PM

That hurts to look at Navy!

CamaroRacing12 07-11-2010 02:48 PM

def hurts to look at but if everything goes well u could be getting a healthy check from the insurance and if they sell it back to u cheap u could make some great money on this deal since most of the good stuff is still fine.

bottledbird68 07-12-2010 12:05 AM

Or just fix that one. Yeah it's pretty fucked but it's not that bad. I've fixed worse. Buy it back cheap and come out way on top all said and done.

Slowhawk 07-12-2010 12:14 AM

Thats totaled and should never be fixed.

I've worked on some that were damaged like that. When the frame is pulled it gets very weak.Put it on a lift for awhile and the frame starts to bend again just by the weight of the car.

And if all you were to do was pull it and leave it then I'd agree with you.
The proper way would be to replace the right apron and radiator support with new metal.

If I actually venture into trying to fix it thats how it would be done. I would be getting a Camaro wrecked in the rear and replacing the front clip on mine with new metal.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 07-12-2010 04:10 AM

WAISTE! buy a v6 car and swap it over. a car that was never hit. and it will be cheaper in the long run. why drive a wrecked car it will never be the same. i dont care how good you are at body work the car will NEVER ever be factory spec again.

Greenbird94ta 07-12-2010 04:24 AM

^agreed, that sucks man, i'd have cried and locked myself in my basement.

SLP IROC-Z 07-12-2010 05:06 AM

i know someone that could pull that. regardless of what anyone has to say, if it was pulled correctly and the sheet metal thats damaged beyond repair was replaced the car would be right again.

*LS1* Queen 07-12-2010 05:09 AM

just got to find someone that really knows their shit...i agree anything can be fixed as long as its done by the right person and the right way

yup, and it would need to be pulled right. from watching our frame guy do work there is more to it than just hooking up a chain and yanking it back.

Exactly. If done PROPERLY, you'd never know the difference ;)

TBerry95z28 07-12-2010 10:55 PM

im still with the SOM idea

Navy01z 07-13-2010 02:39 AM

Insurance adjuster is coming out tomorrow and I will then know the fate.

Formula413 07-13-2010 03:10 AM

They will almost certainly total it, but that doesn't really answer the question of whether it can or should be fixed. I think the first step would be to have someone who knows their shit look it over. Another thing to remember is if it does get fixed it needs to go through a salvage inspection.

Ive had 3 different excellent body guys look at it and all have said it can be repaired to where it would be like it was AND just as safe.

BrokenFeather78 07-13-2010 11:14 PM

A fix will co$t to have it done right. Sometimes it's better to move on.

Formula413 07-13-2010 11:20 PM

True, but
A. The car has sentimental value.
B. This isn't a Toyota Camry. Someday these cars will be rare and desirable, and whoever owns it in 30 years will be glad it was spared from the crusher.

BrokenFeather78 07-13-2010 11:27 PM

I know it has sentimental value, all of mine have in one way or another.
One of the big reasons they become desirable is they are no longer made and the numbers decrease due to the demise of a percentage. It happens. It sucks but it's the truth.

Navy01z 07-14-2010 12:08 AM

Insurance said there isnt enough damage to total it. They cut me a check for 7000 to fix it. So all questions there are answered. The adjuster took a long look at her and said that the rail that is bent really bad is a easily replaceable piece and since the weld seam spread anyway it shouldnt be a bad fix. He said it looks alot worse than it actually is. I asked what the amount difference would be to total it and he said the company would payout 8100 to total it minus my deductible but they wont total it because it can and as he put it should be fixed.

BrokenFeather78 07-14-2010 12:19 AM

Nice well looks like a you're gonna end getting that repaint you were talking about.

Formula413 07-14-2010 12:31 AM

Keep in mind the body shop that does the work may come back and say "it needs this and this and this" and push it past the line, I've seen that happen before.
