As far as removing the ds how about a slidehammer?.....with a 60 lb weight lol

ls6monte 04-13-2011 12:38 AM

A little bit of C4 might do the same thing! Boomer probably has some! lol

Formula413 04-13-2011 12:52 AM

Ok maybe a dumb idea but is there any chance enough heat might free it up? I know it's not a case of rust but maybe the metal would expand enough? The slide hammer isn't a bad idea either if it can attach to the end of the driveshaft.

bfurches 04-13-2011 02:13 AM

If the drive-shaft is locked like that, it probably twisted the splines on the output shaft (which will need to be replaced anyways)

Is that a t-56 (im assuming it is)?

You should be able to disassemble the trans starting from the front, and I believe that trans uses a two piece shaft (slide the output shaft and d/s out the rear of the case after pulling off the rear housing)

http://www.allstategear.com/T56Int5.jpg

Take a look at this parts breakdown to get an idea of what I am talking about. Sounds like a lot of work, but my guess is that unit is going to need a tear-down anyways to repair the output shaft.

My84Z 04-13-2011 02:19 AM

It's already apart.

bfurches 04-13-2011 02:21 AM

perfect.

out of curiosity is that how you removed the ds or did you guys use another method?

My84Z 04-13-2011 02:22 AM

I believe heat was used and yes he twisted the splines crazy mofo!

bfurches 04-13-2011 02:24 AM

I figured that much haha

Awesome that you guys are wasting no time getting it back together.

Best of luck.

My84Z 04-13-2011 02:25 AM

I'm not doing anything lol

bfurches 04-13-2011 02:27 AM

haha woops

My84Z 04-13-2011 02:38 AM

Lol it's ok i will take all the credit!

ILuvPizzaTimes10 04-13-2011 12:30 PM

habhaha yeah and smashingn on the tranny with a hammer or slide hmmer or any kind of force on the shaft and bearings im all set with. i smashed the the ujoints out of the yokes with the vibration insulator resting on a jack(sos not to hurt me tranny) then brought it to don. he knocked out the yoke "freeze plug" and use a big 2 jaw puller and after some heat the shit popped off!!!

and then after a shit ton of parts later my 6 speed is like new again. thanx don for the VERY speedy rebuild!!!!!

Formula413 04-13-2011 01:29 PM

Nice!!!

ls6monte 04-13-2011 04:28 PM

Formula413 04-13-2011 07:20 PM
