midnight 05-23-2011 09:31 PM

so for those of you who arnt on my FB

discount tire called and said the 295 NT05s were out of stock, we went ahead and ordered 305/35/18 555Rs for the rear and 275/40/18 555s for the front. Little dissapointed but hopefully all works out...just raelly concerned with wet trac.

Don't drive like a jerk and I'm sure youll live. When you get them, first time it rains go find a parking lot and do some tight corners and see where they let go...how i learn my cars.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 05-23-2011 10:17 PM

i had nittos rain or shine and they were Awesome. Actually better then my street tires i have now.

*LS1* Queen 05-23-2011 10:40 PM

just dont drive like a tard and ull be fine..the 555Rs were fine in the rain for me..like mike said they are better then some street tires..i had toyos and bfgs and the DRs were better imo

My84Z 05-23-2011 10:55 PM

only downside to dr's is they kick shit up everywhere when warm cause they are sticky so put some extra wax behind the wheels or rubber like my car and enjoy!

For the millionth time: NITTO DRAGS WORK FINE IN THE RAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KB93z28 05-24-2011 12:09 AM

I had some Goodyear eagle F1's on my car when i first got it, they were a little low, and pretty sketchy in the rain, my nitto invos on my car now are awesome in the rain, ive never had a problem with them.

they did have invos but i was concerned they were a little TOO much of a street tire for me.

What do you want, 1.6 60' times on wet pavement?

Slowhawk 05-24-2011 01:18 AM

All my cars have Nitto 555R's. No problem doing 100mph in the rain. I would say thats a pretty decent tire in the rain.

NT05's, forget about it. I personally know of 2 totaled F-body's from driving them in the rain.

no i want stability. my 555s were perfect in the rain, i could actually step on it pretty hard and not lose traction in the rain. I figured with the tread block being bigger on the 555Rs that wouldnt be the case.

KLAB 05-24-2011 04:34 AM

I have a pair of M/T drag radials if you need em.... 17's

SLP IROC-Z 05-24-2011 04:58 AM

Kevin, are they any good? i want them!

KLAB 05-24-2011 06:02 AM

They're pretty dam beat but hey if things are tight and you need a tire they'll do...

ILuvPizzaTimes10 05-24-2011 06:04 PM

discount tire. only place ill do business with. Last time i orded tires they had excellent service and a decent price, this time when they were out of stock, they gave me FREE replacement certificates in case of road hazard and rush shipped them

didnt check summit tho lol

Formula413 05-24-2011 06:41 PM

Discount Tire Direct will also heat cycle tires for a few bucks extra, good for DRs and road race tires, not sure of any other distributors that offer that.

DemonWithin99 05-24-2011 06:58 PM

I'll see if TFT have them at the warehouse and they will match the $$. won't let them touch the car but at least I'd get the tires from them. (if they match the $ and have them)

ya, wonder if they actually stock a race tire like that though. assuming your talking about the 555Rs

ILuvPizzaTimes10 05-25-2011 12:50 AM

ive gotten Nitto DR's from town fair. and if they beat the price they beat it by 10%!!

Formula413 05-25-2011 12:52 AM

Definitely worth a shot, just don't let them touch the car.

arn't summits 555rs pretty cheap? 555rs for my car would be 170 bucks. Replacement tire i got covered under road hazard at TFT would have been 130...thats a normal street tire.

midnight 05-25-2011 01:35 AM

i think for the 305s i paid, or would have paid if they didnt goof up on their stock, $266 a tire...keep in mind, 305/18s

My bad, i thought you had 275/17s for some reason.... Couldn't even find a wider tire on summits website then 275s. lol
