Your def getting there man. I started the same way and my wife telling me I need to shift faster. Haha. But save up for a good rear and tires and some more seat time. You will see a big improvement.

This was my car before I went to a auto but launching with built rear and good slicks makes a huge difference.

Oh i've seen that video many times!! hahaha That car is incredible. you were launching with a 150 shot??? Ya a real rear end will do the trick but this winter is a serious project for me lq9 Turbo and a ford 9" (and cant decide if i want to keep a 6 speed or a auto) Either way your camaro is sick where were you running that said palm beach? haha I bought this car completely stock last march and my first run was a 13.7 and a few 14's then have ran like 30 runs total its fun to see the times go lower and lower....

I would love to go turbo in my ss but not to sure about funds. And yeah I live down here in florida. The track is about a 40min drive from me. I will say a stalled auto is def pretty fun. Especially when it has a manual valve body in it.

When you ran a 10.97 was that a LS1 cam only with a 150 shot?

smokinss 09-02-2011 05:42 PM

Yeah pretty much. Cam bolt ons, built driveline and a 150 hit. All on a 140k stock bottom end

Camaro9969 09-02-2011 07:50 PM

Thats unreal i'm sure the transmission was built up haha....stock heads? its almost not worth doing a whole motor swap considering ill be spending 5x as much and gaining maybe a second less that a 10.97

My84Z 09-02-2011 08:01 PM

Yeah bua built motor will do those times n/a and you get reliability with a built motor not a cold sweat wondring if this is the pass the bottom end let's go lol

smokinss 09-02-2011 10:12 PM

Well put Jon. That's why next on my list to at the very least forge my bottom end and through the 200 at it.. And yes that was with stock 853 casting heads, and race weight of 3730 with me in it. That run had a 1.58 60'. I went a 1.52 on a diifferent night but missed 3rd. Doh!!!!!

Ya your right i will be nervous everytime i hammer it down the track with my motor, i already have 128k on it and it was babied until it came to me last year and those are some rough miles lately! What have you ran with the auto now?

smokinss 09-03-2011 11:50 AM

Yeah my bottom end is at 143k and has been sprayed since 55k when I bought it. Lol

I haven run yet with the auto. I will know on the 21st what she does. Its still kindaa hot down here but I am hoping for 10.5s in good air.
