bolt in HID and or standard bulb Housings

thats right found these looking for something else. Kinda pricy BUT well worth it IMO. change your sealed beams twice and it paid for this kit!!

Batman 05-13-2010 12:29 PM

yup I got those, the housings for the bird are kinda crappy, you have to take care of them or the paint on the back peels. Also have a tendency to leak. The LT1 camaro ones are really nice, but the bird ones leave something to be desired if they haven't improved them. If the one pictured is the same for the bird it is different then mine, mine uses all H7 bulbs.

BrokenFeather78 05-13-2010 11:29 PM

Those are on my to do list already. Thanks for the reminder assclown!

Something like this Alex?

Formula413 05-14-2010 01:44 AM

I'm pretty sure those would pose the same problem as other kits for my car, which is that I couldn't get HIDs and keep the high/low beam function, if anyone knows otherwise please chime in. What I want is HIDs that work just like stock.

BrokenFeather78 05-14-2010 01:50 AM

You'd have to get a switching kit(9007 I believe) and figure out how to fit it in aftermarket housings. The wiring would be easy.

Navy01z 05-14-2010 01:52 AM

You can get HIDS that have a dual filament. The only thing that Ive seen with them tho is that the bulb is HID lowbeam and standard high beam. BUT if you have ever driven with real HIDS you'll never need to use your high beams again. I lOVE my HIDS. I have them on the low beams and fog lights and they are FUCKIN bright.

Batman 05-14-2010 01:53 AM

Yup, I have 9007's in my Grand Prix that do high/low. Just have to figure out how to get it in the housing. Got them here, the will prety much make anyone you want

BrokenFeather78 05-14-2010 01:56 AM

They make bi-xenon hid now
http://cgi.ebay.com/50W-55W-HID-Conv...#ht_3747wt_969

Navy01z 05-14-2010 02:06 AM

I bet I can get them then. The shop Im at now, we do probably 3 to 4 sets of HIDS a day. We use 2 different kits. Azone and a German kit. The German kit is alittle more pricey but fuckin awesome!!!!!

ArcticSS 05-14-2010 03:19 AM

Hey i bought some silverstar 9006 and 9005 and just ripped out the old bulb housing and clear RTV'd the new bulbs in. They have been in my older 4th gen for two years and have never blown. They hook right up and are prob cheaper.

BrokenFeather78 05-23-2010 07:59 PM

I was looking at the options for conversion kits and ran into these on tech:

http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cd/full.aspx?Page=65

The guys running them are saying they're better quality with a more uniform beam than eurolamps. So I'm pulling the trigger on these.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 05-24-2010 12:16 AM

wait so the pick up is the same housing bulb as the fireturds?

BrokenFeather78 05-24-2010 12:55 AM

That's right 4703 and 4701 were in the old picck ups and 98-02 birds I'll let you know how they turn out if you want. I ordered the low beams for now.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 05-24-2010 01:01 AM

That's why I'm doing piece by piece. I can see with stockers but if I can get a cleaner look why not!

I'll let you know pizza.

That still wouldn't allow me to use HIDs would it? Just a regular H4? Is an H4 that much better than an H4666?

BrokenFeather78 05-25-2010 12:09 AM

They're better than 4666. And you can fit hid in those they make lo/hi kits now.

In fact the famed "lifetime warranty" ddmtuning.com has an h4 hi/lo kit for the 4666 conversion housings.

You're not late. ArcticSS and Alex need a hookup. I will be doing my headlights after the brown truck drops off my conversion housings.

Formula413 05-26-2010 03:03 AM

The stuff you posted up looks awesome. So basically I would get a pair of 4666-H4 conversion housings, a pair of 4666-H4 harnesses, and an H4 hi/low HID kit and I'd be set. Thanks for the info.

Can you get the stuff for my car Badger?

Badger87TA 05-26-2010 11:55 PM

They are plug and play, you dont need conversions.

Badger87TA 05-27-2010 12:01 AM

Go here...

http://www.hainesmobile.com/

then click on "Online Catalog"

(its a PDF)

then choose page 43 (at the bottom)

you will see how they work. they are made to plug into your factory harness and come with the ballast pack and direct fit bulb

Any questions Hit me up on AIM "Badgerx88"
or call me 508 566 1300. Im not on the boards a lot these days (not home ever)

He's talking conversion housings/lens right now he has sealed beam and you can't plug into something that has no hole.

Right, that's what I was referring to, the housings that are the same size and shape as an H4666 but accept an H4 bulb.

These are a few bucks cheaper and come with the 4666 to H4 wiring.

So how much would the UI-H4HL in 6000K kit cost? No option for 4300K or 5000K?

Those are the same ones you posted earlier but are cheaper through Amazon. So if I got those with the harness and an H4 hi/lo kit that should do it, right?

They're the same but com with harness and standard H4 bulbs for less. All you need is that and an H4 HID Hi/Lo kit of your choice to put in them.

Formula413 05-27-2010 01:04 AM

This sounds great, I'm glad you showed me this stuff. I thought there was no way to get HIDs that worked like stock for my car. Looks like I can do the whole thing for around $140.

Are those harnesses definitely plug and play for my car, IE plug into the factory pigtails and then into H4s?

ILuvPizzaTimes10 05-27-2010 01:06 AM

H4's use a standard halogen sealed beam connector. your car uses the twisted pin connector. that pigtail setup is nice, But if it was me id just re pigtail my car and have less connections that will corrode.

Yeah that's the "best" way. I'm just giving him a plug and chug route to get his feet wet.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 05-27-2010 01:22 AM

yeah but Alex is no dummy. id say send him the right way first to be honest. Unless alex you want easy "for now" i just hate any kind of aftermarket "ready" made harness. i have seen Way too many shit the bed. and as we all know lose a ground on an HID kit and you mine as well kiss the ballast good bye if it keeps cutting on and off.

BrokenFeather78 05-27-2010 01:26 AM

I'm repinning mine when I get my kit. Mainly because the stock connector has already seen better days.

It's funny how I started with fixing my hosed DRL setup and It's snowballed into scrapping all crap connectors and going full LED and HID.
