winter storage

remember to spray some fogging oil down into you engines to stop the rings from rusting on you

rings rust quick..some pb blast will work also..pull the plugs and pb blast the cylinders..put plugs back and let her sit for winter..fogging oil is better though..

also if you can seal up the exh ports, seal breathers an such so no air can get into the motor..back off all the rockers so theres no tension on the springs an lifters..dont forget to turn her over also an run a oil pump prim also.

an of course treat the dang fuel..lol

what's this you speak of huh? I just start the car once a month lol

irockidz28 11-30-2010 02:42 AM

^hahaha i can honestly say i have never done anyof this but is a good idea

I pour some oil down the cylinders but thats about it. I do seal off the motor but thats more of a mouse problem for me.

+2 on just wonder into the garage and start it up at least once a week... if not more depending on the cold, also helps keep the battery alive without hooking up a trickle charger.

DAWG 11-30-2010 09:27 AM

every 2 weeks ill start them up

Formula413 12-01-2010 12:00 AM

I do most of that to my motorcycle, but the Formula I just run it (if not actually drive it) once or twice a month. I do put Stabil in the tank of course.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 12-01-2010 01:58 PM

yeah i could see a drag car not really beeing a start it up and let it idle type motor needing all that. i just start my car. and i would recomend just unhooking the negative terminal if letting it sit for more then a week in the cold. just starting it up and shutting it off after warm up wont keep the battery up to full charge. and once they freeze there done.

84ta406 12-01-2010 07:58 PM

Agreed with pizza, i dont do any of that stuff because I'm always doing something retarded to the car anyways.

Bayer-Z28 12-01-2010 08:08 PM

even if you still fire the car up once a week or so?

Formula413 12-01-2010 09:49 PM

Best thing for the battery is to put it on a float charger (not a trickle charger) to maintain it. The alternator is not designed to charge the battery, just to keep it topped off.

Suicidal racing 12-01-2010 11:28 PM

its just tips..you will be shocked how fast rings start trying to rust to the bores
