Kill two, both cars had a passenger, following a friends red wrx on the highway.. mods: stage 2 cobb tuned, Turbo back exhaust, down pipe, 18psi. (Think thats it)

Line up at about 50mph, he starts honking, hes not brake boosting. third honk we floor it, his turbo takes a second to spool and I get a car on him and hold it to about 90. Let off cause we were coming up on traffic.

Only run we got in cause he was going shopping and I was heading home. Didnt think to record it.

Not a super serious race but our cars are equally fast. If I don't get him before his turbo spools I cant pull on him, but he can't pull on me either. So unless he misses a gear were dead even every time. Fun tho. :iwin:

Its great, and there is a reason I give thumbs up to any car I think might be faster then me, so they don't rub it in so bad at the end. Lol

aside from the new mustang, I love how the only fast ones MUST be FI, or have a large shot of spray, or way to much money into the engine bay and still arnt" that" fast. Lol mustangs think their shiney paint is gonna make them faster :) thank god ugly and fast don't have to correspond.

Idk, my brothers cobra was DAMN fast lol that thing ripped, and it didnt have alot into the engine, just CAI, smaller pulley, boost bypass mod, snugger pulley, catless x pipe, blowmasters, the blower might have been ported too

Idk, he never ran it, we were supposed to have a couple track days but that never happened. he bought the car in 07 or 08 with 13,000 miles on it in prestine condition, but he beat the tar out of it and hacked the shit out of it. He finally realized how bad he beat it, and traded it in for an f-350 this year lol

There is one 4.3L Jimmy out there you better look out for, it says "Typhoon" on the side

and a cobra is FI ;). Let's take his blower off and see what happens. Lol

what's funny is my friend has a stock jimmy, and we looked into it, all we could find is the typhoons had forged pistons and turbo with 6psi over the stock 4.3. Even with 6 psi I can't picture then being very quick unless its a 5 speed with awesome gear raitos. We were talking about turning his into a typhoon haha

The Syclones ran high 12's/ low 13's stock. The Typhoons ran mid/high 13's I think. You have to remember, this was the early 90's when these came out. That was fast then.

I would have to see it run a high 13 I think. 14+ seconds I could see, sub 14s I find hard to beleave. Its heavier and even with the turbo puts it into the relm of stock lt1 power. Id take my chances against a STOCK one. Modded i could sure see some crazy times and power Im sure.

They were AWD too no?

Well, I know some jimmys came with 4wd, but I'm not sure if you would wanna try launching them hard in 4wd....

IIRC the Typhoon and Syclone were AWD not 4wd

syclone and typhoon both were AWD. and had forged crankshafts, special block porting(oiling), heads, cam, intake, and obviously the exhaust were all different from the base 4.3.

Where did you find that info? When i looked I couldn't find anything except forged pistons.

Just look at pictures of one and you can tell ;)

well wen you know of someone building or atleast attempting to build one and the crank is now $4000 for a factory replacement Forged crank. you get the picture. and the rods after seing the internals all laid out are Not pink Or PM rods but forged as well. the motor stock IF it doesnt PING like they All do due to shitty heads. they can handle ~20PSI on 93 octane only. and ive seen them around 450-500 whp with more aggressive tune an Methanol.

My friend on here(s10pro) bought a 93 Typhoon with a hurt engine. The 4.3 was done up to the point people were telling him with those mods it was to have run 10's. Unfortunately the crank was a new style GM crank(broken in 2 pieces!). The replacement crank would have been $4,000! He sold all the parts and was going to run a 6.0 with a turbo but that turned into a can of worms also, so he sold the truck and engine separately.

I don't wanna make another, so ill just post it on here.

mid 90s mr2 red, body kit, rims, ma plate. Had pillar gauges, so I'm guessing after market boost controller... He went the same few squiggly roads i went home. He wanted to go. we stayed single file but, from a bout 20 we both floored it and i would pull an instant car (turbo lag i would guess) and then slowly creep away. did it a couple more times with same result before i had to turn off.

Gave him a thumbs up and he threw me the peace sign.

Yea, living in Nashua I've kicked a couple puppies. One kid in a civic really thought he was gonna smoke me, and about the time he dumped the clutch and spun it was over by buses lol...We caught the next 3 lights next to each other, he wouldn't look at me or anything. Best walk of shame ever. LOL

So, new "kill story" more like a tie.

Me and a new Mazda 3? were messing around getting on the highway, and there is traffic so we cant line them up so we just pace and blip the throttle at each other for a min till traffic opened up.

In the mean time a wrx came out of no where and when we started our pull he turned off lol Not sure if he was already losing or what.

By the time traffic had cleared we were approaching the on ramp for highway so we did a 60-115ish pull and it was a dead tie. He was behind me during the pull and he didnt catch me and i didnt pull on him.

Ive seen him around before so im hoping ill get a good run with him soon..

I feel like from a dig or low roll I woulda slaughtered him, any idea what he might have had done, or more about the car? I don;t know imports so i have no idea what it really was.

If it hung with your car it's probably a Mazdaspeed3 (turbo)

No way it was stock right? it was a 2010+ model cause it had the hood scoop. Everything I can find says i should be making MUCH more power then a stock one, and I have a good weight advantage. Perhaps he was tuned and bolt ons?

mazdaspeed 3 like alex sed. factory turbo in the 300hp range?

260bhp was the only # i could find online, and i have a few hundred lbs weight advantage, im guessing it had to have been tuned and more boost? atleast i hope a stock speed3 isnt a race for a botlon lt1 lol

Pretty sure that car is still lighter than yours even with weight reduction. If he had bolt ons/tune/more boost/any of the above it should be a good race.

curb weight says 3250~ that factoring driver? only 100lbs less then my tuna with me in it lol

So clearly I am the faster car, if it was dead even now, with gears i would have pulled a little. Don't forget I'm bolt ons minus stall and RR. And to boot a 60 roll race was HIS race, I'm guessing it would be bad from a dig being fail wheel drive.


Either way thats the best race ive had in a while, He has a fancy vanity plate so next time i see him ill try and get him to stop and chat and see whats up with his car.

Red GTO + young driver = an ass hurting by an old man in a H/C Vette. Wasn't even close, 5 car lengths by 70. It's been awhile! Wife being pissed.....so worth it.
