I think I picked a fight for the SS that I may not win

well I put 20 bucks on a race next year against my uncles stock vet its only a 91 but I know he is putting down more power than me. My only hope is he stalls or cant drive it LOL. should be a fun race next spring

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-28-2009 08:27 AM

91 is pre LT1. More Power??!?!?! Hardly..... i think they made 245 hp that year. Unlessss its a ZR1?!?!?! LT5 FTW!!!?????

sciff5 11-28-2009 08:54 AM

My gfs dad has an 82 vette with the crossfire engine. Complete dog. A 16 second car. I raced him with my 2002 maxima and even that car made quick work of the vette, sadly.

Batman 11-28-2009 04:13 PM

Yeah wasn't much fast at all in 1982

Formula413 11-28-2009 04:42 PM

If it really is stock you will walk him pretty hard.

c4boom 11-28-2009 05:19 PM

ya its a zr1 with the lt5. The motor iS a engineering masterpiece. You guys really think I would be worried about a stock TPI LOL I tried to get him to run me for slip (bust out the purple pill on the ss) but he laughed so did though I because I know he loves his car way to much to do that. but ya Im trying to set this up for the first track day next spring.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-28-2009 05:25 PM

yeah ummmmmm your gunna have our ass handed to you..... sorry buddy.

c4boom 11-28-2009 05:29 PM

my one saving grace is i know that he never drives the car real hard so he pbly wont run it to its full potential

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-28-2009 05:31 PM

unless the nerves get the better of him at the track. and he just mats it and those c4's hook pretty good on street tires. ill let you borrow my nittos!!! your gunna need em!!!!

ls6monte 11-28-2009 07:01 PM

Good luck with that one! Although the new stock C6's are faster than an older zr1. They ran mid/high 12's on a good day.

:sux2bu:

You are toast, I'll rent you my car for $200.00 a pass :)

Formula413 11-28-2009 07:27 PM

Are the original ZR1's really that fast? The LT5 was what, 370 hp or something? Boomer should be making more than that with full exhaust. I think it will be a good race.

c4boom 11-28-2009 08:50 PM

he is rated at like 375 but like most hi power chevys its under rated i think they dyno at like 350-360 rwhp

c4boom 11-29-2009 03:55 AM

ya and the rest of the car is just as much custom. nothing on the body is the same as a normal vet

Formula413 11-29-2009 05:05 AM

ZR1 HP ratings:
'92: 375 HP
'93-'95: 405 HP

They also show a curb weight around 3,450 depending on year, not sure why it's that heavy. So if it's a '92 I think it's a good race.

c4boom 11-29-2009 05:45 AM

we will see hope he dont chicken out should be fun for one of our first meets
