Reasons how something can happen...

I am wondering how a car can lose a tune... im almost 100% that my Camaro has lost its tune. It sat for like 3 weeks the battery died and after I started it to bring to the autobody shop it seemed to run like garbo and shift points r off... anyone have any ideas?

Slowhawk 09-12-2011 11:21 PM

Sounds like you lost a sensor, not the tune.

Motaboata 09-13-2011 12:00 AM

like a knock sensor?

ILuvPizzaTimes10 09-13-2011 12:31 AM

like a fucked up maf or tps.

Formula413 09-13-2011 12:32 AM

I'm pretty sure you can't just lose a tune no matter how long the car sits or the battery is disconnected. You could lose idle, but not the whole tune.

try bringing it to someone who better understand how to read the sensors, or start replacing the easy one's.

If you're near worcester at all I can put my ethos on it and tell you what the sensors are doing.

Slowhawk 09-14-2011 10:09 PM

Why not bring it to the person that does them for a living and knows what to look for from the sensors?

You guy's kill me.

I would love to Don, But quite frankly I dont have the extra cash to pay at this moment for my car to come for a visit. If I did you would be the first person I would come see, hence why you did the tuning and I would come see you again.

84ta406 09-15-2011 12:00 PM

Iirc don only charges like 20 bux to do a quick diagnostic on it

Slowhawk 09-16-2011 01:54 AM

Pretty much, ya. Definitely cheaper to just throw parts at it. Lol

84ta406 09-16-2011 02:38 AM

I looked at it today while he was in the area.. TPS was working correctly,0%-99% and load was 2% at idle, MAF seemed to be right 5.5-6 g/s at idle and increased under throttle, MAP was reading at 7.7Hg at idle and would decrease from there. ECT stayed at 198 the whole time, didn't go up or down which I thought was kinda weird. Front o2s were fluctuating like normal. He did have a code for knock sensor low voltage though.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 09-16-2011 05:56 PM

Now I say its time to bring it to don!

84ta406 09-16-2011 09:34 PM

Agreed, I couldn't find something but he knows much better than I do that's why he is THE MAN

Motaboata 09-16-2011 11:39 PM

I plan on bringing it to Don, I just figured while I was local to a friend who is willing to take a look why not...

My84Z 09-17-2011 12:00 AM

ILuvPizzaTimes10 09-17-2011 12:00 AM
