true duals
was wondering if anyone on here is running tsp true duals? i want to change out my exhaust and i was looking at the tsp true dual setup, anyone know the laws in mass for having the exhaust dump before the rear axle?

The exhaust MUST go past the rear wheels to be legal. |

Why bother? IMO a regular catback isn't holding you back to warrant it other than being able to say you have duals. Why not get a different catback?

Yeah for the expense of that exhaust I would run something like an aerochamber instead, it would sound great on you setup and wouldn't cost you any significant power.
I remember the Mercedes Benz SLR AMG had exhausts that exited right in front of the front doors, is that still technically illegal, even if it's factory? |
I know what you mean. Maybe look into a spintech muffler or a dynatech race muffler.. would be a bit different
|
The exhaust by mass state law has to exit in the factory location and meet or exceed oe noise and emission standards. So just by putting headers on your car is illegal. I say fuck it and do what you want. If there gunna be dicks(police) about you having a loud car its the same ticket weather the exhaust exits the rear or not.

I say do it!!! Who cares lol... Im running Headers to ORY to a pipe that dumps at axel my car is pretty loud and so far so good with the popo....

Been pulled over a few times (LOL) here in CT, and NEVER has the exhaust come up as the reason or even been mentioned... (Except the one time the office pulled me over to tell me he liked the sound:ftmfw:) I do have a dual cat high flow Y pipe as well, so that helps too:dance-1: There's also Chambered Resonators as another option to build one similar to the GMMG setup. Basically True Duals on 4th Gens is a real nightmare. Expensive to custom build the path over the axles, and with the options for mufflers/cat backs you can achieve the same sound for 1/2 the price and use the typical layout for piping. |

change the can. simple, cheap, and huge diversity in sounds.

i'm looking at the borla xr-1 to take place of the slp ressy
|
Worst case if you do that and you're still not happy with it you haven't spent much
|
If you have the money look into the new stainless true dual exhaust from kooks. It comes over the rear and exits the stock location. Def the prettiest setup out there IMHO. Here is a link

only thing i dont like about it is its made for the bmr relocation panhard bar. and that dropped tunnelbrace/driveshaft loop.
|
I had the tsp true duals on my firebird. It was the loudest car I have ever owned, it sounded good but don't ever expect to hear your cell phone or radio.

problem with the TSP is it dumps Under the car so it resonates under the car wich mea alot of drone while driving. Tonys car wasnt too bad but its alot louder then say a regular catback that exits at the bumper. i would honestly have a true dual setup dump out under the doors. If i was to go that route. wich i wont.
|
Yeah what you will find with an exhaust that dumps under the car is the relationship between how loud it is outside and how loud it is inside changes drastically. Tony's car does not sound much louder than a typical LT/catback car outside but inside it is a LOT louder.

One of the local guys near me did that with the factory gfx setup. Notched them and has the pipes set back just a bit so they don't stick to the police. Sounded alright. He could have chosen a better muffler I think but sick setup none the less.
