Help Assistive Technology!

Hey guys, for my mechanical engineering project I have to come up with an idea for an engineering design for disabled persons, patients, elder people. I gotta be able to build it at my school (machine shop, milling, lathes) but no welding or bending LAME. So anyone have an idea maybe someone who knows a disabled person or elder? Shoot me some ideas on what you think would be a helpful thing that I could design maybe something that grabs stuff off a high shelf? Shoot ideas!!!

How about a DIY wheelchair that is better than this one?

OK, OK....if you don't like that one, how about a simple shower for the disabled?

hahaha he would fail on both of those for bending and welding!!

I wonder if KLAB could design a hand control for the brake and gas pedal without bending or welding. Something better than the squeegee the guy is showing but not as good as the high end systems he shows.

^^although the guy is a bit of a "fight the system" it is intersting

See what you really need is something so stupidly simple, yet incredibley effective that can apply to everyday life......with that being said, I have no idea haha.

i say a mechanical arm hydraulically(strong arm) assisted for the aid of opening doors while in a wheel chair.

I say something automotive related... Something for a one arm person aka someone who got blown up over seas... Who now is missing a limb but still wants to be a spirited driver....
