In the end its all in what makes you happy and is right for your future... But just remember weather wise the summers are STUPID hot lol.

This last summer was stupid hot here. So doesn't matter. Good part is little to no 30 degree days like today.

The wife will move no problem. She hates the cold weather up here. Kids are still young so they should be all set to move.

Yes it is but in truth we do the same builds here. Supercharged/stroker motors are the norm here but we don't post them.

Houses are cheap as hell down there. Good chance we could pay cash for one after selling our stuff up here.

3k+ sq/ft house with 5+ acres for $120k down there.

Don't be a bitch you wanna retire and stay here :)

It always looks easy moving on paper... But once you look at all of your assets its very difficult for the most part to be able to pack your shit up and head out... no matter how bad you do or dont want to go... My family used to move us alot, including half way across the world and then work was moving me around for a bit. Granted I don't have kids and a family i cant imagine that helping the situation at all.

But nonetheless, Best of luck i'm sure whatever your decision is itll all work out with some hard work and perseverance

Having kids makes it real tough. Otherwise, you could be a snowbird and go 1/2 way with a 1.5k sq/ft house with 2 acres for $60K.

With kids in school, this probably would not be practical.

If we had no kids this would be a done deal already. Kids cost $$ and are not flexable like us.

Everything would be difficult. Sell 2 houses up here. Close,sell or move the bussiness. Rent a house or whatever till we find a place we want to live ect.

I'm still hoping to hit the lottery.

Been there. I've had 13 different addresses in my life (so far). Had to move a lot as a kid for my father's job and it still continues today as an adult. All that PITA packing and unpacking.

I went to 3 different High Schools because of the moves. I was always 'The New Kid' who had to fit in. Very tough on kids.

If you're considering the move just for the weather, give it a lot of thought before uprooting your family..
But if it's for BIG BUXX, go for it. Besides, as you've discovered, it's a LOT cheaper to live away from the Northeast.

Yes land is cheeper down here, but all in all its about the same. Gas is more, food depending can be more etc etc. But the roads are straight and flat and its sunny year around down here so can't complain.

I'm contemplating a move to FL as well, just north of palm beach..got a good opportunity down there as well. and though I honestly love my job I'm sick of the cold , brutal winters and almost getting killed on a weekly basis and getting thrown around the boat like a rag doll in the rough, talk about sore!

I've spent a good amount of time in the tampa area and love that place, housing is cheap, cost of living is cheaper etc etc.. I'm not familiar w/ the area I'd be moving to though. one thing you might want to consider since you have kids is how much the public schools suck down there! so you might want to add the cost of private school into the equation too.
