Hey Guys,
I know there is a million threads about fuel pump access panel, just wondering if there was any that seemed to be more helpful or not so helpful. I will be doing my fuel pump this week on my camaro.

Ohhhh my bad lol. I've read a few and they are all pretty much the same, cut a hole, don't hit the gas tank lol

irockidz28 03-27-2012 12:24 AM

jayws6 did it with his car. came out pretty good

ILuvPizzaTimes10 03-27-2012 12:46 AM

dont on the 1998. you have a 98 right? i forget!! haha Anyway if it is you have to cut a square with a rectangle attached to it and it makes this Monster hole!!!! ill see if i can search some photos. Either way Unless your running a high horse FI setup and might need to get in there more often id say do it. but your not. just drop the tank. its really not that hard.

My84Z 03-27-2012 12:50 AM

Just drop it out the bottom you have no muffler so all you need to do is unbolt the shocks and let the rear hang down

ILuvPizzaTimes10 03-27-2012 12:53 AM

^^ Dont forget the upper and lower panhard bar.

My84Z 03-27-2012 12:59 AM

And the gas filler hose but all that shit rotted away on Josh :p

ILuvPizzaTimes10 03-27-2012 01:00 AM

hahaha NICE!!!

Yeah we got it. Its a 98!!!!:badger:

Formula413 03-27-2012 02:54 AM

What year is the car? :p

Personally I would do the trapdoor but if your exhaust is dumped and you don't have to fight with stuck pipes than it might be worth dropping the rear.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 03-27-2012 03:05 AM

yeah you cut a 6 foot hole out of your floor and some how find a way to stick it back in and tell me its an awesome idea.......

We cut the original hole and could not reach the connectors so we ended up making an L shaped cut sorta like what's posted above by stangtrader only we went a little further with the L. I'm sure you're cut will look similar when its all said and done.

From that same page. you have to cut further over on the 98 as the hard steel lines run down the tank and over a good foot. this is why i just dropped the tank.

LOL You mean 6 inch? If you look in that thread one person made a nice clean cover for the hole out of sheet metal, I would say that's the way to go. Also keep in mind lots of people don't have access to a lift or good facilities to work on the car. Many cars have these from the factory for a reason.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 03-27-2012 03:29 AM

yeah and it can be dropped in a few hours and back up on your back with a walmart jack and stands. Thats all im saying. the 98 is a bitch. and unless turbo or supercharged or a heavy shot of nitrous where a BIG setup in the tank is being changed out or fixed frequently id drop it. Thats just what im saying.

My84Z 03-27-2012 03:33 AM

I did mine the first time dropping the tank and the hardest part was getting the exhaust off.

KLAB 03-27-2012 04:44 AM

dont bend the filler neck on the way out. sucks to get it back in lol. literally the hardest part I wanna smack everyone that told me to cut a hold in my floor because I almost did
