My first personal car project.

Well I will start off by saying, hello my name is Steve. Back in March I bought my first car, a 1994 Camaro Z28. Like most kids that grew up around cars, I wanted a nice looking and fast car as my first car. So last October I started working at Stop n Shop after school 5 days a week. I kept saving up my money until this bad larry pooped up on craigslist...

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/...psb9668b89.jpg

Guy wanted $3500 but I managed to talk him down to $2500 :yaaaay:

Guy delivered it to my house at night but heres some pictures the next morning:

Well needless to say... :shitstirrer:

But after a buff and wax this is what I ended up with:

Car was changed from Bright Red to Victory Red and I personally think it makes a big difference.

Upcoming plans are: lower, rims, CME single tip, and maybe some other things.

But yeah I started this thread on LS1Tech back in May and got a decent response from it so I figured I'd share with you guys (except LSX-Nation because i know he's seen this thread haha)

But anyways, thanks for reading and I'm looking forward to meeting some of you guys

KLAB 09-23-2012 10:29 PM

You got the suede red/grey interior or the cloth material? I have always liked the cloth better.

Red/gray interior. It doesn't feel suede but what do I know. My driver seat needs to be reupholstered though

Z28 03-24-2014 03:50 PM

Well I thought I would update this a bit, I can't believe it's already been a year and a half since made this thread. Time flys!

Here's a quick timeline:

June 2013:
I fucking love my neighbors!

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/...pseb72c3d5.jpg

Top it all off the transmission let out not but a week later. Excellent luck I've had so far. SO I was pissed off and wanted to part the car out, which led to ripping apart the inside and outside of the car, then I changed my mind and decided to fix it. So I bought a transmission with 80k on it for like $200, ran and drive perfectly before it got pulled.

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/...psaec110be.jpg

I have cleaned it up and took off all the surrounding pieces off it. I've got a transmission cooler and shift kit waiting to go in now, I was going to save for a SS3600 but I had to spend all my tax money on adult stuff. Lame. Just recently I finished my grey leather swap and I love it. Just need to go pick up a few pieces to finish up the interior.

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9909c190.jpg

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/...ps493275ea.jpg

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/...ps25d59b92.jpg

So now that I don't have a raggedy interior anymore I can focus on other important issues which is where I stand today. Plan is right now:
Put newer trans in with new lines
Install PS pump and new lines
Misc sensors
Shocks/springs
Repaint nose againnnnnn
Tires
Founders LCA'S, PHB, and reloc brackets
Long tubes and ORY
Tune
SS3600

My goal is to have it at least road ready and somewhat presentable by May, there's a lot of little things I have to figure out on this car still but I hope to be running at the drag strip and going to cruises consistently this year

ZFreie 03-24-2014 04:28 PM

Me vs you heads up when its done!

Ill be there a bunch this year, I plan on going shortly after it opens lol I didnt go last year cause

A I wouldnt pass tech and
B I was lazy.
C I spent my money on other useless stuff

I got me the itch for a 12 second slip, so I'ma get me one this year. :zfreie:

frankzlt1 03-24-2014 05:05 PM

the interior looks good. did you fix the fender?

I grabbed one of a parts car, ill be keeping the cracked one as a souvenir

Z28 05-05-2014 12:06 AM

Well I made some headway today, got the outside mostly together. Not pretty but it's functional.

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6a177858.jpg

Then I put 5 qts of Dex III and took it down the street, shifted great but obviously a leaky line is a leaky line lol.

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1fcad108.jpg

Note the trail of fluid.

But as of right now it's just a matter of getting the leak fixed and some other small things and it would be road ready technically speaking

84ta406 05-05-2014 12:54 AM

Damn dude, gotta fix that line! Bet it felt good to drive it though

Z28 05-05-2014 12:57 AM

Yeah it just really annoys me that all it was is just a line that whole time lol.

ZFreie 05-05-2014 01:00 AM

Sick man!

Z28 10-05-2014 05:28 AM

Slight update, got the line installed and it no longer leaks fluid. Drove it home from my buddy's shop (23 miles from my house) with no hickups whatsoever. It felt great driving it but it certainly needs some TLC. Definitely going to focus on my suspension this winter. After driving my S10 for a year it felt like my bones were being rattled out of my body driving this.
Picking it up from the shop:
http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/...pslgfjcpue.jpg

Got rid of my 10 spokes and threw these on that I bought a little while ago
http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/...psailcmtna.jpg

And Photoshop drop for the lolz
http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/...slqpxesfj.jpeg

Going to install some sensors I have laying around tomorrow, maybe tackle the power steering if I'm feeling brave. Pretty much just needs a little buttoning up and some exhaust work and tires and its ready to rock. I will also be painting most of not all of the car over the winter as well.
Feeling motivated as ever right now

ILuvPizzaTimes10 10-06-2014 12:13 AM

wow Nice. funny the PS drop makes the first one look like a lift kit!! haha

Formula413 10-06-2014 12:16 AM

Z71 Camaro LOL

DavidS 10-06-2014 12:19 AM

That dropped look is killer.

frankzlt1 10-06-2014 12:35 AM

Looking good.

Z28 10-06-2014 12:57 AM

I know the stock height is killing me. After taking a good look at everything suspension wise I'm just going to replace most of it with aftermarket stuff. The car rides so harsh

If your car is riding harsh with stock suspension when you lower it it's only going to be worse. I don't drive mine every day so the hard ride doesn't bother me, be prepared for a tuffer ride.

I think the harshness had to do with the bald tires, unbalanced wheels, and blown shocks. Big reason why I got rid of those wheels because it was pretty decent on KLABs old wheels. I know that reducing suspension travel won't increase ride quality haha.
