Frank Maratta Auto Show, March 2nd & 3rd

Big E
Better Living Center

March 2nd and 3rd, 2013
Saturday 10am to 10pm
Sunday 10am to 5pm

http://www.fmautoshow.com/

I'll have the white 69 Camaro there, I'm hoping some of the guys from NEFBA will be there!

BigMac76 02-15-2013 02:23 AM

Been thinking of going on the 3rd as a spectator. Not sure though because the fiancé is having her bridal shower that day as well and I am going to have to make an appearance at the end of it to clean up the mess and figure out where to put all the stuff. Will know when it gets closer to the day.

frankzlt1 02-15-2013 11:26 AM

Ill be there on saturday.

Hope to see you there. They will probably stick me way in the back among the more sedate cars. The wild, pimped out stuff is usually up front.

Great! See you there Frank!

BigMac76 02-15-2013 03:48 PM

That's where I will be, in the back. Not too amazed or crazed with all the super custom stuff.

Formula413 02-15-2013 05:30 PM

I should be able to make one day or the other. Lets see if we can all get our heads together and go on the same day.

It's great that there might be a few guys from the club there!!!!

The show is in two weeks and I have to start getting stuff ready.....and I have to learn how to strap in a car, tow, and setup a booth.

Today I took the 69 off the lift (it likes it on top, LOL) and swapped places with the 68.

I took a pic of them in the driveway. The all-Chevy driveway. FTW. :usa:

DAWG 02-16-2013 01:27 PM

If Im not on the road I will stop up.

DavidS 02-17-2013 02:31 AM

Great Dawg! Hope to see you there.

I just started working on a photo album to bring to the show. I picked out 6 pictures but I'd like to end up with about 20 pictures for the album.

I’d like to show the beginning stuff like the bolts that were welded to the gas tank braces to hold them on:

And the lowest points of the project:

And then engine restoration:

And then body restoration:

And then final pics:

Thanks Frank! In the beginning, it was a nightmare. Since the restoration was finished, it's been great! When the winter is over.......drive time!

Hope to see you there Ron! It should be a fun experience since I've never done an indoor show (or towed a car, setup a booth, etc.).

A few local guys are going to be helping me out.

This includes Rich, who sold me the trailer and the truck. He has been amazing with his advice. He has written a bunch of towing and setup instructions for me. Also, Mike Labrecque is coming over on Tuesday to give me some towing lessons. And, Art who lives down the street, with an original 67 SS Camaro is going to be helping me with the booth. All 3 guys are helping me setup the booth.

I don't really get anything out of showing a car there, but I like to try new things. I also love cars and have had a great time going to this show the last 4 years.

LSX-Nation 02-18-2013 11:26 AM

How many cars will be there that arent all riced out?

For "rice" would blinding amounts of chrome on a 55 Chevy qualify?

My best guess is about 40% of the cars have extreme modifications.

The closer to the front you are, the more modded the cars are.

LSX-Nation 02-18-2013 10:15 PM

Yeah to me when you have to squint to look at a car its rice. Id love to come and check out your car though, I take it you will be there both days ?

Yep. Friday is the setup day, and then I'll be there on Saturday and Sunday. Hope to see you there.

Last year, there was a 64 Impala where I couldn't use a flash on the engine bay. The camera had to squint to take the picture. LOL.

If I'm not dead tired ill try to make it on Sunday. Only issue I'll have is I'm working Sunday nights now too for the next couple months :p
Want to try and make it out though!

Hope you can make it Matt! They've had some real nice Firebirds in past years, but I'm not sure what's going to be there this year.

Northeast Rod Run 02-20-2013 01:12 AM

I'm looking forward to making it out there this year. Especially after I did the GoodGuys show there last June. That place is a great venue for a show.

I had one of my cars in the GoodGuys indoor show there last year. I wonder if they are going to have this one in the same building, or if they will be using multiple buildings?

Cool. Stop by the booth!

Was the GoodGuys show in the Better Living Center? If so, it's the same building.

One thing that is different this year than the past 3 years is the Race-A-Rama part of the show. I think that since the Better Living Center is 35,000 square feet bigger than the CT Expo center where the Frank Maratta show was last year they added the Race-A-Rama back in.

“The Race-A-Rama portion of the exposition will showcase Tracks of the Northeast, Divisional Championship Race Cars, and vendors offering racing related products, services and souvenirs.”

Just FYI some Town Fair Tire locations have discount passes available, not sure if they all do or not. I can't go Sunday but I should be able to make it Saturday.

Saw the same thing tft. Ill be there on Saturday, probably around 12.

DavidS 02-25-2013 12:50 AM

Great!!!! See you guys there. I'm hoping there are a lot more Camaros & Firebirds there.

I even don't mind checking out the pimped out cars. The only ones I really don't like are the donks but I've never seen one at a Maratta Show.

BigMac76 02-25-2013 01:37 AM

Gonna try for Saturday, too. Not 100% sure on time tho, gotta work Saturday and do an oil change on the Rogue.

DavidS 02-28-2013 12:18 AM

Cleaned up and almost ready for the show.

Just cleaning up. Especially the underside.

I'm going to be using the full show display stuff that I bought off Rich and it has mirrors and lights to show the underside. It seems a little strange since I intended the car to be a driver and not a show car, but after this show it can go back to being a driver.
