wow....
Way worse than we all thought. Axle rod replaced, bearing was toast, 4 new calipers, all new brakes, rotors (we were going to do those anyway this year ).
basically this car has been rebuilt this year... lol |
Damn.
Hey Stop Killing Your Car!!!! I KNOW YOUR READING THIS NINJA DAN!!!!!
lol, the seal popped, axle rod was rubbing enough on the bearing to cause damage to the rod. That caliper seized, so in pulling it all apart they found what we already knew about the brakes. we had the intention of replacing them all in a few weeks.
so everythings all new. emphasis on SHOULD NOT!!! have any other issues in the near future. lol |
sounds familiar! owned the car 3 weeks, new steering rack, ps pump and hoses, reservoir, balljoints, tie rods, sway bars and bushings and links, alternator, battery, serp belt, main pulley,ac compressor, now it needs struts and mounts in the front..so im looking at another $600 in work needed ASAP. FML.
why asap? are they falling out? leaking? making noise? i had almost 200k on my struts. were they good NO but i wouldn't say ASAP on stuts. enjoy the car!

But I really don't think he's beating on his car. He seems to be a low key and nice guy that once in a while does a burnout....but he's not killing his car! He might be having a run of bad luck but it should be straightened out now. |
^ one can only hope... lol
I didn't even know he broke it loose. (like the rest of us) |
don i did the alt and ps pump at my parents house on the lift, so that wasnt to bad, if you can give me a price on stock struts and mounts for the front? im sure you have the press tool needed to install them. and pizza...there banging/clunking so loud its getting to the point where im getting frustrated driving it! i dont beat on it because i just like to enjoy it..yeah once in awhile i will hit the gas harder then usual but i just cruise it to work and back..get 19mpg city and roughly 25.5 on highway..loving it
yeah then i suppose its time for struts! haha
lol thanks! i hate it! got a few dif quotes so far but nothing short of 500$ car is lowered 1inch which is making it difficult because i cant just order loaded struts
moog sells a mount seperate and i wouldnt go with a parts store strut like a monroe anyway. save up and get some good shit in the front. a QA1 will be a Nice addition to the car. and then get rear shocks later to make it a fully adjustable Nice handling car! the shocks will make up KINDA for the springs you have.
I ran the bilstiens and eibachs for a long time. Now I have 90/10 drag shocks up front cabd competition engineering 3 way adjustable in the rear.
justin lj told me to run 90/10s up front and 50/50 rears..worth it?
Not for a daily driven car with the way the roads are up North. I run them and a bias ply tire with skinnies up front and it wanders a bit. The roads down here are flat and straight too. Dont get me wrong I love my 90/10s and 50/50s but my SS isnt a everyday car.
If you want a drag type set up go with the QA1s. Atleast there adjustable. |
ok ill take a look into that! thanks pal
Talk to Eric at midwest chassis about coil overs/struts. you can get a better quality double adjustable strut with the coil overs for the same price as a single adjustable qa1 drag strut right now and have a better driving car on the street.
