Hope this goes pretty good for you, because up in Worcester that show was done running it's course years ago.

Maybe a new location with new blood will bring it back a bit, but with Moscoffian still running the show, I think this is just going to be the show's final swan song.

Once the show became more about just collecting as much money as possible and letting in every grocery getter, instead of trying to bring in the quality show cars, that's when many people gave up on it

As I've said for the last few years..... this show has become the Bret Favre of car shows... it doesn't know when to quit with it's best years behind it

ITA, more than likely I might swing by on the way back from the honeymoon and check it out just to see how much of a trainwreck it will be. That would be good if it was revived and actually cleaned up a lot of what caused it to be so crappy. But as mentioned above, with Moscoffian running it, it's very doubtful that he will change anything other than the location.

I don't mind them letting in shitboxes who want to burn the tires off, but put them next to each other. Don't put some rotbox capri with some halfass built 302 in it next to a 50's Merc that has been gone over the right way and painstakingly rebuilt. Put em in a corral next to each other.

I should stop now before I go off on a weekend long rant haha.

still gunna suck but atleast you wont be in Worcester!!!

LOL!!!

I hear ya... The more I typed in my last post, the harder it was to stop before I really climbed on my soapbox

The one thing I hated about the Nats more than anything was every time you turned around someone wanted money from you. Pay to park, pay to get in, pay extra to watch the burnouts from the grandstand, it was non-stop greed.

well that's a thing of the past im told.
Its a whole different kinda show now.

Good luck Dawg! From folks only wanting $, to dudes throwing beer bottles at your head, it sounds like a horror show.

Take pics!!! And maybe wear an Army helmet. LOL.

This guy is ready for the Summer Nationals.

goodluck to everyone going i hope someone does check it out to see if anything has improved with the new location... i however seem to have lost my helmet and will not be attending aka dodging beer bottles.

DAWG 06-30-2013 12:18 PM

Ill just use the same helmet I used on the short bus when I was a kid.

You guys had some shitty luck at this show in the past. I never had to pay extra for parking or anything. Only the grandstands which you didnt have to pay for it was optional. Also never had bottles thrown at me. Maybe because I am a native lol... Ill be at Lime Rock, hope someone goes and tells me how it is.

DAWG 07-06-2013 02:09 PM

I went and seems much better than the wooster location.
Burnouts with option for free style is a nice feature.
paid once and didn't see anyone paying for any thing else.

Cool deal

Were there lot's of "grocery getters" like there were in Worcester? I figured there would be, because they used to say they weren't even allowed there, but they still showed up. Now in CT they were advertising that "ALL CARS ARE WELCOME".

What went on at the end of the day, after the show was over? The best part used to be downtown after the park got out.... That is, until they lost their host hotel and all the craziness started 4 or 5 years ago

Any pics?

DAWG 07-06-2013 03:49 PM

not many beaters at all?
Mostly showcars and some race cars
I didn't take my car .
there was a lot of tailgate parties going on aswell. Even a few campers and tents set up for overnite.
pics are up on the shows website and FB page (my camera broke, thks to the wife lol)

Was on the honeymoon all last week and didn't get a chance to make it. That and I didn't really care much to check it out because something was just telling me in the back of my head that it would've been an epic fail.

After being nickel and dime'd to death in the previous shows years I have seemed to have lost interest in it. Pay to park @ Worcester Voc Tech, entrance at the gate for myself, my wife and our daughter who is under the age of 4. Oh you wanted to check out downtown, guess what, now pay again to get in there for all 3 of us.

I doubt any of it will change with Moscoffian running the show. Maybe it was better the first year out, but give it time and he will shit all over it there as well as what was done in Woostah.

That is all...

monytorris 07-09-2013 04:14 PM

I went for a few hours as a spectator and only had to pay $12 and that included everything. One thing that was nice is there is plenty of seating at the track so everybody can see the burnouts and they let people do whatever they wanted on the track.

Northeast Rod Run 07-09-2013 04:25 PM

I have now seen plenty of pics from the show and I'm glad I didn't go.

As far as the show went, it looked to be to many daily drivers mixed in with the show cars. You would have a couple of 'show worthy' cars in a row and then maybe a regular stock new Chevy Blazer next to them. That happened way to many times.

Then if you go to the show's actual Facebook page, they don't even have a dozen show car pictures.

My friends that were in the show, said they couldn't even get a show schedule until well after the thing started. For someone who has been running a show for that many years, that is totally unacceptable.

I wouldn't be surprised if they try it one more time down there, but I think that will really be his swan song

bottledbird68 07-13-2013 03:10 AM

Yeah there wasn't much in the way of "show" cars compared to years past. There was a bunch there but definitely not to the old days at the parks number.
I did like how they had the freestyle burnouts and drag racing set up. Was cool having 300ft drags pretty much all day long. (And speaking as someone who helps run the burnouts there it was way easier this way at the track).
I'm curious to see what next year brings. I don't think it was a total wash but was definitely a way different feel than before.

DAWG 07-13-2013 03:58 AM

I definitely go with the car and participate next year.
I wanna do the freestyle burnout with the wife in the car!
I wanna see her piss her pants before I recover the seats lol.
