Finally weighed the Clamaro

I've been wanting to weight my car since I bought it and finally did tonight while driving around with Joe. 3520 lb, basically full weight car with minor changes:

Removed spare tire and jack
Very light fiberglass ss hood (wish I weighed the difference >. <)
SS ten spokes
LS1 brakes
LS1 Al driveshaft

Full interior hardtop still equipped with AC cruise control and stuff.
Oh and it had about a quarter tank of gas. Thought this would be good for people to know about what these weigh. I would like to drop it into 3400 with minor weight reduction no crazy cutting fenders or hacking it up.

KLAB 10-21-2013 05:19 AM

So with that and the times its running, it should be making about 275rwhp.

Z28 10-21-2013 11:00 AM

What are you gonna do to drop weight?

ZFreie 10-21-2013 12:07 PM

I need to weigh mine on the same scale so we can compare

Formula413 10-21-2013 12:44 PM

Mine was 3,450 on the scale at LVD with about a quarter tank of gas.

I don't know. Maybe rear seats but actually might just leave it alone and get skinnies.

Do it. Its the weigh station off 93S in Derry.

That seems oddly light.

Formula413 10-21-2013 03:45 PM

That scale might read low. A Formula should be the lightest V8 F Body though.

Z28 10-21-2013 04:17 PM

Formulas weigh less. I'm thinking about taking out my rear seats, gives me an excuse to have less people in my car. I may get rid of A/C too, mine doesn't work anyway. Aside from that and some lighter wheels, I want to be in the upper 3300# race weight.

LSX-Nation 10-21-2013 06:46 PM

klab is that with you in it? With a half tank of gas and nothing removed ( spare tire and jack still in) mine weights 3480. That's without me in it. My race weight was 3630 the other night.

If you have been wanting to weigh it why didn't you just do it at the track? lol

SLP IROC-Z 10-21-2013 07:35 PM

his was 3520 with him in it.

KLAB 10-21-2013 08:15 PM

Yes that was with me in it. I weigh ~140 lbs. I think an ls motor is about 80 lbs lighter than an LT1 too. I bet the auto is also heavier than a t56 maybmaybe

Formula413 10-21-2013 08:39 PM

That would make your car 3,380 lbs, that's pretty light.

Z28 10-21-2013 08:59 PM

Stock steel hood isnt light lol

ZFreie 10-21-2013 09:10 PM

Last time I weighed my car at the junkyard scale it was 3350 with me in it lol Could be the scale off as well, or I'm just as light as I think I am.

Klab, what time did you go? Gates just open?

~edit~ I might go weight mine this week, before I park it for the winter and remove another 100+ lbs.

Z28 10-21-2013 11:07 PM

camarokid91 10-22-2013 12:41 AM

Damn my car weighed 3470 without me in it with half tank of gas last I checked. I took some stuff out and have more to go now.

I didn't know you meant without your in it for your weight. I figure I'm in the car when I race so might as well include that...

There are no gates just drive up. We went in around 9:30-10:00 pm plus it was Sunday. The 93N side had lights on in the booth so looped around and stopped on the southbound side. Even if you screw up and there's a statie in there I'm sure if you were just like I wanted to see what me car weighs all they would say is well move along lol.

Hmm, the steel hood does weigh a lot. I shaved a lot of weight there. But every scale has its error associated with it. Only way to be accurate is everyone use the same scale lol.

SLP IROC-Z 10-22-2013 03:45 PM

Z28 10-22-2013 04:52 PM

Ok Kevin, What's a Clamaro?? I've heard of Clamato juice but not a Clamaro. Can you tell me the difference please? :megaman: :tool: :tool:

KLAB 10-23-2013 10:55 PM

its a metaphor for a slow Camaro I made up, based on the movement characteristics of a clam. See video:

Z28 10-23-2013 11:13 PM
