American muscle car race event & car show at Lime Rock - invite for your club

Quote:

Would you be willing to share our upcoming Trans Am racing event flyer with your members? It includes information on the American muscle car racing on Friday May 22 and Saturday May 23 (car clubs can do parade laps on track on Saturday with the car corrals!), an offer for free passes for race ticket holders to a screening of the new Paul Newman racing documentary on Friday May 22, and the Royals’ Garage charity car show also that weekend on the 24th at the track.

Any current or former members of the U.S. military are admitted free with any proof of service, including their immediate family for this event! Children 12 and under are free, too. We can also arrange bulk ticket discounts for clubs attending as a group, if your club is interested.

Thank you – I appreciate your time,

Ryan

Are you going to this show dave?

DavidS 05-07-2015 11:22 AM

I'm probably going to the Sunday Car Show on the 24th.

Mystery Bird 05-07-2015 11:56 AM

That looks like a good time. I love Limerock Park.

frankzlt1 05-07-2015 01:15 PM

Might have to go on the 24th.

DavidS 05-07-2015 02:24 PM

If you're going Frank....I'm definitely in.

I forgot to mention that I ran into your buddy, the big guy, at Mark's Cruise Night. Super nice guy!

DavidS 05-08-2015 12:42 AM

I didn't get any pics of the big guy but I got a few pics of people walking by.

Older dudes, lovin' it. Like a moth to the flame.

Younger chicks, couldn't care less. HA! HA! HA!

DavidS 05-23-2015 01:02 PM

I'm definitely going tomorrow.

I'm bringing the Z.

frankzlt1 05-23-2015 01:30 PM

I wanted to go but it's my son's birthday and had other ideas on what he wanted to do.

I totally understand. Been there.

DavidS 05-26-2015 01:33 AM

I had a great time at the show.

I think that since Trans-Am racing was the day before the show, people went nuts for the Z. It was crazy. I think there were 400 to 500 cars lined up on the straight-away on the track and so many people were asking me questions about the Z. A mustang-guy in a mustang shirt asked me questions for about 1/2 an hour and kept talking about a Camaro he owned in the 70's. He owned 3 mustangs but he was really ready to switch teams. I told him I wanted to go with him to see the mustang he had at the show, but he basically told me to forget it. LOL.

The sponsor of the show was Royals Garage and I ended up wining the Royal trophy. The most awesome thing was getting to meet Skip Barber. He is the owner and operator of Limerock Park. He really loved the Z and I got an invitation to their Concours show.

The dude with the oversized Chevy hat and the dirty shoes is me. To my right is my very understanding wife and Skip is on my left.

That's awesome! There must have been some awesome cars there. I went to Limerock to watch races once and the parking lot was like an exotic car dealership.

There were definitely awesome cars there. The brand new Vette parked next to me was awesome!!!

I have more pics of the show and some really beautiful cars including cars that won the other trophies that I can post tomorrow.

frankzlt1 05-26-2015 09:06 AM

That's exciting huh? Do you drive it or trailer it to events?

I've been bringing it with a trailer. I want to do one more year of the Camaro Nationals. Not this year though. After the 2016 Camaro Nationals, I'll be driving it a lot more.

The Hartford Courant took a good picture of it:

I'm sure you know already but putting all this stuff in a scrap type book will only increase the value of the car.

Excellent idea. I always figured that posting on-line was my scrap book but it would be nice to have a hard copy.

Today I emailed some pictures and info on the show to Hemmings Muscle Machines. For the last 2 years, I've wanted to get the Z in there, but I haven't had any luck.

Mystery Bird 05-29-2015 03:51 PM

Have you ever brought the Z to Hemmings Musclepalooza at Lebanon Valley? There was over 1200 cars there last weekend. There is another one in the fall.

Sorry. Some how I totally missed this post. Sounds like some huge shows. I might do the fall one.

DavidS 07-22-2015 08:01 PM

A woman named Sandra Cointreau had a booth at the Lime Rock show and she makes water color paintings of peoples cars at no cost. If you like the painting, you can buy the original from her. Otherwise she puts it up for sale in her booth. I forgot the exact price, but it seemed inexpensive.

Today she sent me an email with a picture of the Z that she painted.

I really like it.

Grovlet 07-23-2015 03:41 AM

Hmm - I missed this - I wanted to go to this one - I love Lime Rock!!! Been there numerous times to watch races as a kid, and even been around that track once when the MG Club sponsored a show there, and they did a 'Show Car' Lap....

And as a blast from the past - My parents were good friends with Mike O'Brien - he used to have an autobody shop in Collinsville in the old Collins Company - Since we lived right there I used to drool over the cars he would have hiding in there. I wonder if he still has his 55 Chevy?

Congrats on the Award!!
