More flow less torque?

It seems like the more flow my engine has the less pull it has.

I bought my car bone stock. It had original exhaust, intake, ignition, everything. It was slow but from a stop it would kick you back and you could really feel it pull.

As soon as i removed the cat and put on an aftermarket muffler (Flowmaster 80) i felt less torque, maybe more in the upper end. Then today I put on a Spectre air filter for more flow up top and as i leave after putting it on again it feels like it has less pull.

I think the best word to describe is it feels a lot smoother throughout the RPMs. Its very consistant but it just doesnt seem as torquey/jerkey as it did before.

So whats the deal am i imagining it? Do i need to adjust the air/fuel ratio now? Less back pressure? Usually the placebo effect is opposite where you think your car suddenly has 50 extra HP, not the opposite.

get rid of that muffler. i picked up 5 mph and 20rwhp from switching to a hooker aero chamber. same sized pipe. 3"in 2x2.5" outs

Well...you can almost forget everything i said...because ive been hearing this clunk off and on and today i finally dove in and sure enough the transmission mount was in half...bought a polyurethane...found the torque...

More it breathes headers etc you lose alittle down low but gain alot up top.

I'll have to dyno it someday. I rarely if at all floor it and I'm afraid to with issues I've had with past Camaros. It definitely changed with the mods just hard to tell.

Be careful running a poly trans mount if you still have the stock rubber engine mounts. When the engine flexes and the trans can't flex with it it can crack the tail shaft housing.

Good tip. Are engine mounts expensive? Poly ones anyway.
