Oil temp sender?
Is there anywhere to put one on a SBC, using a mechanical sender? I assume most people tap into the oil pan but FUCK THAT. I'll sell it before pulling that pan again. Is that the only place to put one?

Read title :)
Oil Temp sender, the only person interested in my gauges is low balling me and for his price I would rather use them than give them away. |

or http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/oil-c...34-unf-16.aspx I have this one but you need to find a better washer for it. the one they give you isn't the best. |
My 400 in the monte had it mounted at the rear of the intake.

I know I can put the pressure there.. was yours a electric sender?
|
yeah. I got that adapter and plugged 3 of the 4 holes it has all the parts you'd need, but like I said it needs a better washer/gasket/o-ring to go between it and the block.
either one of those spots will work fine, but if you have LT's there is some extra work needed to keep the wires safe, and sensor as accurate as it can be. most would go with option 1 over anything else. I have to redo mine next time I change the oil, my little heat shield melted to the headers. but that was my fault for not securing it. |
installing an oil temp anywere else except either the oil pan direct OR on an inline adapter for say a remote filter adapter. you wont get the correct temp and its just a waste of time sticking it on the 1/8 hole behind the intake is just a dead head. just tells you block temp at that point.

damn forgot I have the oil reloaction kit.. should be able to make it work

they sell an inline adapter for that. make sure you have it on the supply side not the return.
