Tire questions
So I am picking up a set of used DR's for cheap and I'm going to throw them on a pair of my salad shooters for the track. The tire is Nitto NT555r and is a 245/50/16. My question is are these tires any good? And what PSI should I run them at on the track. I'm a little worried its not going to be enough tire for me.
I'm also planning on picking up some skinnies too but I'm a little worried about running a bias ply/radial combo on the hour ride to the track. But yeah I'm hoping with the tires, stall, LTs, and LCA's ill be in the 12s. |
Theyre better than a non drag radial. They seem to work good for Alex on his car. Youll have to play around with tire pressure, id say 20-25psi. Skinnies dont mean you have to run a bias ply tire, run a 165r80.

Why such a tall sidewall?

Theyre only 25" tall unless you want something shorter but that will look goofy. the narrower the tread the higher the aspect ratio to achieve the same height.

They do work well on my car but that's with 250rwhp and the stock converter. If you do a stall I think you will need something stickier to get the best launches at the track. But then again Don used to pull the front tires on his car with Nitto drags. I think if you really roast them they can stick pretty good.

I guess we'll see how they do. All apart of the sport right? Lol

They will wprk fine but you say used so the ? Is how old are they? Older they are less chance of them working well

I meant when they were made. If they sat on the rack for years then a summer driven on etc. could be real old

Look at the date code on the side wall of the tire.
