Did My First High Performance Driving Event Today

And Damn it was scary out there. 65 degree down pours all day and absolutly the slickest road surface I've been on since winter last year in New England, thats no exaggeration.

I dont know how familiar you guys are with HPDEs but they are essentially a mix of performance driving school and wheel to wheel racing.
Top speed around a race track, can you imagine trying to lay down close to 400whp to the pavement with 4.10s and street tires on the slickest wet roads you've ever been on.

It was crazy, here I am rolling into half throttle towards the top of 3rd (about 85-95 mph) and the car is skating side to side. Or downshifting during braking after that scary straight and even after rev matching the rear end still locks slighly and starts trying to swap ends with you.

Luckily by the end of the day it started drying a bit. But point is, I highly suggest this form of crazy. Its a good type of crazy and if I had some decent conditions I think I would have liked it even more.

I'll post pics once they upload them

It was up at NHMS up in loudon.

If you run the road course, you will have a new appreciation for nascar. I was hitting about 110 down the straight, and after the straight you make a pretty tight turn to continue on the road course, but in front of you is the oval and its steep and a lot tighter than it looks on tv.

Anyone know how fast Nascars go at NHMS?

i think they get up into the 140-150 range

The Whelen Modified car they run out of my shop gets up to around 130 - 140 or so mph at Loudon.
