Clutch Issue?

I was driving my car yesterday and everything was fine. All of a sudden I put the car in neutral and coasted to a stop at a light. Then when the light turned green, I attempted to put the car in gear and it wouldn't go into ANY gear. So I forced it into gear and took off and the clutch chattered like a mofo, then after that it drove perfectly normal again. Got home, checked the clutch fluid reservoir and it was brown. Took it for a test drive a little later and it drove perfectly fine, then as soon as I got home and tried to back into my driveway, it wouldn't go in reverse or any other gear again. What's going on????

could be the master or the slave but sounds like a definate hydraulic issue

There are no leaks whatsoever though. I'm wondering if I should just bleed it out and put new fluid in and see if that fixes it?

Can't hurt i guess but i am gonna guess and say the master is shitting itself and not creating pressure sometimes

yeah that makes sense. I'll try the cheapest and easiest thing first lol then if that doesn't work it looks like I'm doing a clutch job!

Well you can try new fluid, but if the master is bad you dont have to do a clutch job. You can replace the master in a few hours usually. But it def sounds like the slave isnt releasing for whatever the reason is.

my bro just had the same issue. ended up going all in on a new master, slave, clutch...
start with the fluid, but most likely culprit is the master IMO. stock one's are known to have a problem.

An Achilles heel on these cars is the slave cylinder, it is a very common failure. Does the clutch pedal have any resistance or is it just going to the floor? I'd slide under the car and look at the opening in the bottom of the bellhousing for fluid, stick a piece of paper in there if you have to see if it comes out wet.
