I woulda cut you a deal on my Escort, but I unloaded it a year ago. That is, if you would actually drive an Escort...

How much you looking to spend?

Speaking from experience after owning lots of random cars it's really tough to beat a wrx for daily year round use. Especially if you have a need for speed. ;)

Case in point, my fiance's wrx was a race only car the day it rolled off the showroom floor. We got our hands on it at 27k and have not been nice to it either. Been drag raced, autocrossed, and generally abused on the street. Just turned 100k, still runs great. No major issues beyond the trans randomly popping out of 5th after 80k. Swapped it when the clutch finally let go about 100k, but it still drove fine.
Beyond that I put a belt on it once and changed the plugs and oil lol.

Yeah, if you shop carefully you can wrx's in the 5k range.
For 3k, good luck on anything really decent. Course then again given where you're at I would think you have some time to hunt for the right deal ;)
