Should I go to Puerto Rico?
So, I applied for this thing that Northeastern University offers for undergraduates, "Research Experiences for Undergraduates." I ended up getting a call with them telling me they want to offer me a position, IN PUERTO RICO.
I wanted to do the project in Boston, they pay for your housing and I'd get a feel for the school before I transfer there in the fall. But damn Puerto Rico??? I would be getting paid to go there, paid housing provided by University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, and $4500 stipend and I would be there this summer from June 6th to August 12th at the University of Puerto Rico doing research on explosives detection (homeland security stuff). Huge decision for me, should I reject an awesome opportunity and miss summer, or should I take it miss summer and, idk.. benefit from it in the long run I guess. I have never traveled out of the country, and they want me to decide by tomorrow >.< What do yall think? |
I wouldn't it would be dangerous for a white boy like u down there. Lol
|
LOL I know!!! I'm gonna get jumped.
Multiple times! I. am. horrified. |
More like stabbed murdered and robbed but sure. I use to work with a guy from there and he said he would never go back that it's bad there. Plus that young pretty gf of yours will realise how goofy you are and find a nice college man :p

do it! thats a great opportunity. i thought about doing a semester in Ghana butttt it was expensive and then i thought about all the crazy ass spiders that would prolly be in my bed. but do it!!! and ur not going to get jumped lol.

I heard PR is not bad. But Dominican Republic is where the badasses are... and I do not have to worry about my girlfriend finding another man, especially if the money I would make would be partly spent on her anyways! lol.
plus she already knows how goofy I am... |
I vote for "do it". I spent a week there on vacation and had a great time. There are some bad neighborhoods but (common sense stuff) stay away from them, don't go crazy with the nightlife, stay away from all dealers, hookers, etc and you should be A-OK. Sounds like a great opportunity. Step 1 - get some language CD's or DVD's.

hey technically its still the US...i heard you dont even need a passport to go.
sounds like a great opportunity..and seriously if you let dumbshit like that cloud your judgement your never going to do anything in life....its ONE summer you will miss for a chance to do something different...look at it as a vacation....plus you come back in august...you still have until october before summers feel is over anyway |
do it kev who knows when you'll get chance like this again.

Do it man, I wish I had an opportunity to get away for a while like that!
