Pinging

After my car was dyno'd at dyno day, a few people told me it was pinging up top,( i believe pizza was one of them ). Im planing on getting headers in the near future so i was going to wait till they are on to have Don tune it for me. Today i was cleaning out the garage and i found a little box that came with the car. I just put it on the shelf and never opened it when i first bought the car a little over a year ago. What do you know i found a predator tuner. A few people said if i lower the timing it should go away. I might as well lower the timing with that thing. Anyone have a idea on how many degree's i should lower it? Btw car made 310/320 with a AFR of a average of 13, its a pretty straight line across the board so i think that's ok.

Put the stock tune back in. You will be able to flash the car back to stock wich will unlock the tuner and then get rid of it. And have it pro tuned after the headers.

Actually after just using it i just remembered that way back when i bought the car the speedo was off and i adjusted it using the predator tuner that came with the car then i threw it back in the box lol, I think i used the factory tune and just calibrated the car for the gears. Maybe the person who sold it to me threw the factory tune back in before selling it??? idk but anyways im pretty sure the stock tune is in so what should i do? Could a stock tune throw off the timing? The MAF is aftermarket im not sure if that could be the problem or not haha thanks.

if you programmed anything with the predator for even a gear change it flashes its "tune" along with it. so it still will have the high spark tables and low fan stuff. i stiill say use it flash the saved stock tune and if you need to change the tune for gears Don will do it.

with the diablo i had i could choose to use the stock tune and only modify certain perameters.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-05-2011 10:30 PM

i thought the predator used there own tune Or the stock tune. it wouldnt modify the stock tune?

LSX-Nation 11-05-2011 11:30 PM

there is a program where you can modify the stock tune. Thats what i did, so now my problem is why am i pinging if im on the stock tune?

And thanks for pointing out the pinging mike, i didnt even notice it until you told me.

More than likely the maf is adding timing. Most of the cars I tune end up with less timing than the factory put in there. The cold weather brings out the timIng problem.
