So last Sunday i was moving my avalanche around my driveway to get shoveled out, i have my wife move the truck then when she went to stop then the fkn break line broke under the drivers side. So now im fked because i dont have the time or place to fix this, the biggest problem is all my lines are rotted to shit and i knew it but i was waiting until better weather and i was going to get a kit and do this myself, but i cant right now. Now im stuck and need to get this done now because im using this truck now, so i called my local shop to have them fix it. Well i knew what was going to happen i had them replace the lines ended up all the lines because they were shot and knew it plus when they dropped the gas tank to put the new break lines and discovered the fuel lines were shot as well. So i had them also replace the fuel lines and fuel pump too. By the time i they were done the job cost me $2 g's. Do you think i got hosed or not. I know it was a lot of work.

What was the parts cost for the fuel lines, brake lines, fuel pump, etc.?

the cause is from the miracle brine the state uses on the roads instead of salt/sand mix.
my 99 Silverado blew the brake lines twice and the brine eventually ate through my frame.
I just fixed the wifes suv and it cost about 1800.00
brakelines and fuel lines.
there is a lawsuit in the works to get the state to stop using the brine stuff cuz it does no good anyhow.
the brown staining on the edge of the road you see now adays is actually rust from all the vehicles.

The parts for fuel lines were $300 pump$400 labor for that was $200. For all the break lines 2 new front calipers and labor was about $1000.

The garage that did the work told me the same thing. Right now they are doing a lot brake lines and fuel lines and transmissions on plow trucks lol.

I think they are not trying to stiff ya.

pulling the tank is not needed to replace the rear lines. i have yet to see a fuel line pop on a gm truck.(personally) they may have looked shitted up But they are rather thick. try cutting one with a tubing cutter. much tougher then a brake line believe it or not. go to advance auto and look up the pump for your car. unless they used a GM pump $400 was a bit much. granted they have to warranty the part and mark it up. but when there getting it for under 300....... they got you back on the road. and shit is a lot in your area. i just would NOT have paid that much for brake lines.

Most shops actually charge list price around here, while they take the money they save believe it or not. Don't forget the brake hoses are probably in there too, you are looking at 20 bucks a piece for them. But all in all, it unfortunately sounds about right. Could you have done it for a fraction of the price? yup but shops will usually charge you more that it would cost you to get the parts retail and there is a lot of labor in there.
