My first time driving a LT1.

First time driving one tonight. I was using my friends lift and he drove my ls1 then i drove his lt1. He has driven a 98 stock camaro before wasnt really impressed with it. Said it felt decent and thats it. He took mine out tonight ( nothing special. LM1 cat-back ram air,lid,tune,410's,decent street tires) and he was really impressed. Said its faster than his. He has a 96 1le. Cam,full exhaust, meth, cut-out,aftermarket clutch,373's ect and i drove it. My first impressions was it takes off really well from a stop. TQ down low was impressive and throttle is more sensitive. After that though it seem like it stayed pretty flat, i winded out the first 3 gears and wasn't that impressed. He put down 330 on a dyno but it didn't feel as strong as mine. And i missing something here or is that how they all feel?

Again no disrespect to LT1's this guy had won national events for a long time with this car. Im just curious. Beautiful car, really well taken care of, in top condition.

They have the feeling of running out of steam up top lol I'm only bolt ons and mines like that after first gear lol

You didn't list heads, so that would equate to the low end tq with the cam he prob has, should hire it out as a stump puller :)

stock heads. Car probably weighs less than mine too. His is a stripper with a little weight reduction. Mines full optioned full weight.

I feel like the LT1s really lack the top end that LS1s have. Have driven mine and my friends SS (lid, catback, 6 speed) the feel is totally different. On the flip side, from a roll were about even, my front bumper is at his door.

Another thing is being used to the speed of your car, my friends h/c fox body felt fast as he'll my first time driving it but my car annihilates it from a dig/roll. That's just from a light bolt on/auto LT1 perspective though.

If my car wasn't broken I'd let you drive it

he said he put in a 502-503 cam or something like that. Yeah i annihilated the first 2 gears with 315's on the back. Had a hard time hooking up. But then i took it on the highway and ran through third and a little bit of fourth and it just didn't pull as hard as i expected. He said he ran a 13.2@105 before the cam so its a pretty quick car.

Sounds about for a bolt on car running low 13s, prob high-mid 12s with the cam.
