STUMPED BAD 02 SENSOR PROBLEM!!!!
Not too sure where to put this but here it goes anyway. About a month ago I started tearing out the tranny to have it rebuilt and do a new clutch etc etc. I finished it all up a few days ago and took it out for a spin. The next day the car started jerking and heistating really bad and I got a SES light, and my Autometer A/F guage stopped reading all together. I had it scanned and it was a bank 1 o2 sensor. So I went home pulled the plugs on the driver side and they were all fouled. So I assumed I needed a new 02.
Well tonight I proceeded to change all of the plugs and my buddie came over with 4 02s that he had laying around from his car. Still in good shape mind you. I swaped one in and the car still runs like shit and my A/F guage still isnt reading at all, it will flash occasionally but thats it. I tried a couple more sensors and still the same thing. Oh BTW this is the front sensor since I have LTs and a ORY. Iam going crazy here guys. I checked to see if the extension harness was melted and its not so I dont know I need help. |
hmm thats odd....is it still throwing the code for the bad o2 even after replacing it? do u know anyone with a scan tool? id say its the only way to figure out that issue. cause that should tell u if its got a short in the wiring harness. from ur a/f gauge not working sounds like its prob the wiring harness.

(go out on a limb and assume you had the rears tuned out) or a bad sim.
other than that I'd say check all wires. |
are you also still having that skip shift soleniod code problem? you could have pinched the harness in between the motor and bellhousing, or its shifted over and melted on the header. check all harnesses and go from there.
|
yeah the rears are tuned out of the system completely. The front driver side harness goes over the header and under the motor mount so its nowhere near the bellhousing. The harness for all of the tranny connections goes on top of the bellhousing so that might be pinched. I dont know Iam stumped for sure.

Have you checked the fuse for the O2? Some newer cars have fuses for the O2's. Good luck!
|
well if your gauge isn't working I will go on a limb and say your splice into the 02 wire ripped split or just plain isn't having a good connection. did you extend your 02's? maybe your extention is bad. check the wireing good.
|
Yeah Jon I pulled the extension out and checked over pretty well and it seems to be fine. The splice into the sensor is good too. From the sounds of it I pinched a wire somewhere when putting the tranny back in. YaY I get to do it all over again.
|
Well its all fixed up. I let the tranny down tonight to see if I had pinched a wire and everything checked out ok. Then after a quick back and forth with Pizzaman I decided to just unhook the air fuel gauge for shits. Wouldnt you fucking know it the car is back to normal again. I cant believe it. Anyway thanks again Mike for the help tonight.

your very welcome. and wierd all at the same time. Maybe everyone makle a note of this? a bad Air/Fuel Gauge can short out your O2 sensor signal wire and your car runs like ass?!?!? seems to be the case here. Great Job Man glad your happy!
