Fuse for EWP melting???
Hey guys, so heres the story...I was driving the down the road and BOOM i see "check gauges" and low and behold, Im overheating. I pull over and shut off the car. i have no coolant leaking, no coolant smell, but a faint electrical smell. I turn the key to check the EWP and of course, nothing. after a bit, it decides to work again...but to be safe, I get a tow home. so I just go out and check it, and it is running this time, and as its running I smell something cooking...I look and the fuse for the EWP is melting the socket. what could be causing this? excessive current draw from a bad EWP?

a bad connection with an under hood fuse holder is what id guess. if it was high current at the fuse the fuse would blow for sure. i say its a bad connection at the fuse holder. buy a new one and pop it in and make sure you get a capped sealed one.

So its almost DEF not the EWP and just the fuse holder?
|
you may have REALLY just made my day...
|
if the WP is spinning under its own power power and the smell is coming Souly from the fuse holder. id say yes just the fuse holder has gotten corroded.

woooo i feel MUCH better right about now! lol
