Around here - I swear by Performance Snows - Only a handful of times you really need full snow traction vs. most of the winter with squishy Sidewalls....

Performance Winter Tire Testing

I've run the Dunlop Winter Sport 3Ds for years (but the 4D is out now)
Looks like the Michelin PA4 or the Perelli SottoZero 3 provide a little better snow traction than the Dunlops now though

From personal use though - I can tell you it's awesome to not have to give up much on handing while only being forced to drive just a tiny bit more carefully in the white stuff (vs a standard snow)

Performance snows an an AWD Car are pretty much unstoppable - I've driven my Subaru though 8+" parking lots without issue - car goes up my 30 Deg Driveway in 6+" wihout issue (note ~8 it will slide around)...

Ohh - And congrats to Dave on the new DD - That was on the list for our new car - but the Wife doesn't like the look?
