Default Ram Air set-up

I'm thinking about getting the Chrs1313 Ram Air but i have a few questions. Does anyone have one or recommend something different? Do you think i will run into cooling problems because sort of blocks off the radiator? Do you think water coming up the intake will be a problem or anything else? Here's the link. I'm getting the one that allows me to keep A/C.

It got pretty good reviews on ls1tech but id rather have your thoughts on it.
Thanks, Taylor

that pretty much the same setup as the SLP and yes you have to be pretty stupid to hydro lock your motor with one people have still done it. being that the air box sits over and past the radiator the air coming in is already lower then under hood temps. what i would do and save the money is trim the bottom of the upper rad support/air box out under the filter and not run one of those things. leaving the stock plastic diverter in place.

So basically just do the free Ram Air mod and leave it like that...

yeah im not sure if its worth it. I dont think water will get up in there but like pizza said i have heard ppl forgetting about it and going over a huge puddle or something and locking up the engine.

I've replaced 2 motors that have hydroloc'd with those setups.

So, if you drive smart in the rain you should be good. Avoid big puddle's.

i run one of those on my lt1 car......i switched over to the ls1 style intake.....the chrs1313 ram air and the ftp 104mm lid was a great swap for me from my old setup, makes a big difference at high speed.......i had no cooling effect with mine temps are the same it may have actually helped to direct air through the radiator with the location it is in on mine.....i never drive mine in the rain so water isnt an issue but like slowhawk said just be smart with it and you should be OK......

heres a pic of the ram air on mine with the bumper off so u can get a good view of it....

its a great setup and works very well........just beware i had to cut the bottom of my hood latch bracket off for it to fit......you can make another bracket for it to hold the bottom steady if needed......i just ripped mine off since i use pins anyway....also ignore the filter on the tb in that pic thats just for street use only i run a 4" tube for the track
