Default LT1 Race Car stuff.....cool piston/valve pic...

Figured id share some cool pics and some of the stuff that got changed this year............

after a great year of racing last year i pulled my heads to massage them a bit more and found this after i pulled them off............i knew my PTV clearance was around .027 cold with my valve lash tight (around .006) ......apparently it was close enough at high rpm to just rub off the carbon on the piston.......no contact though just some shaddowing........lifting up the head .004 to give myself a wee bit more clearance.....springs tested good so valve float isn't a concern...

motor out just for some inspection and to fix a spark plug hole.......

little bit of header carnage.....nearly put the car on the bumper at the end of the year down in maryland......came down a little hard cause i back peadeled it a bit to keep it from tearing the bumper off......easy fix though....

pic of the 9 sec slip....

......ill post up a few of the heads when i get them back this week.........its a TFS CNCd head flowing WELLLLL over 300 cfm......

Holy shit man, care to measure the carbon layer and see how close you were to contact?

LOL

Also are them some wrapped mild steal headers?

i figure i was right around .003-.005 from actually hitting them.....the piston was just chasing the valve on closing enough to shaddow very little.....im gonna open up the gasket to .030 when they go back on should put me back at .010 or better....plus on e85 this year there should be no carbon buildup.....and yea they're wrapped mild steel headmans.......gonna send them to be coated this year the wrap is a pain in the ass.........

well the headman hustler off the shelf was a perfect header for me........primary lengths were less than an inch of being perfect for my motor as well as the collector......nobody made a stainless 1 7/8" primary 3.5" collector for my car off the shelf.....customs were $1500 from lemmons and these were $790 only idfference was stainless........just wasn't worth it cars never out in the water anyway......plus nobody else had them with the stahl bolt pattern.....
