Default Race with "Rusty"

The wife treated me to a few laps @ Stafford Speeday!!

So I spent the day at the track and got to drive 10 laps as fast as I could around the track...

Man I suck - Felt like I was way to late on the gas out of corners..... And a Race Car setup is far different than a street car...

Ohh and I was the lone idiot who went to total wrong way to pit lane drove over the grass, and even heard my "Spotter" call me an stupid as$hole and idiot over the radio.. (although well deserved)

All in all a pretty neat experience to get the feel of a "Stock Car"

I asked and they run the basic GM Crate "Stock Car" Motors, but they do have wicked camber setups where the car basically turns itself left....

They provide the cars.... But the are your typical "Stock Car" - Chassis and Cage with basic internals & Sheet Metal bodies. 420 BHP Motors / 530 Gears & 1:1 Transmission gearing in 3rd (Only Gear needed for such a short track).

That sounds like fun! Mind if I ask how much it costs?

Race with Rusty

It starts ~$250 or so but then they add $60 "Insurance" (In case you hit the wall adn trash the car your limited to $1,000 in damage), and you can buy an in-car video of your laps, and other such upgrades (added laps/Plaque Picture of you getting in the car all suited up, etc..)

The wife found a groupon for 1/2 off so I think she paid ~$150 and then it cost me another $100 or so between insurance and video.....

It's not the cheapest fun but it isn't too bad considering all you do is show up, a quick lesson on how the car is setup and the very basics of how to drive it, then they put in a car, a belt you in and off you go.... They even provide fire suits, helmets and a Hans Device.

That's a great price Eric. I wouldn't be surprised if the LimeRock package was 5 times more.

if you want to run in an actual race, it doesn't cost much more.

for around $500 rent-a-racecar will rent you a racecar for a friday night at stafford where you actually compete in a nascar event.
