Default Don: Enlighten me... Low numbers..

Ok, first of all I am blaming a stock 78mm P+P'd LS1 tb to be choking back some power. I never really looked into a bigger TB as I though you couldn't go much bigger on an LS6 intake. I'm not gonna ask this on LS1Tech because this is a smaller forum and the thread won't get lost in an hour. Or if anyone else wants to but in. IT'S NOT THE CAM AND I'M NOT GETTING A BIGGER ONE. I'm gonna max this one out with top of the line parts first before I get a different cam.

Don: What do you think is choking back the power, besides the tune and the altitude it was tuned at. -> 414/372 at Texas Speed at 3800ft on a dynojet. 403/381 on yours, running rich at Dyno Day. TSP also did not use a WBo2 in the Y, just probed the tip.

LS6 intake w 78mm (Gettin an 85 and will make it work)
LS6 CNC P+P'd heads (can't easily find a fast 92)
PRC dual gold valve springs
Cam at 224/228 .637.639 110 +0 (dot to dot.. designer put down 459/410 with it, so it has potential, but my heads are killing 15-20 I know that)
Cometic HG's
SLP Tuned length LT's (not seeing as an issue anymore)
Somewhat damaged 3" Y-pipe

That should be all you really need to know, unless I missed something.

Dyno sheet from TSP. PatG said it needed a little more fuel down low and said the smoothing was wrong.. ????

honestly i don't think your numbers are low for the cam/heads your setup is basicly a cam only ls6 like a 03ish zo6 vette. I think they just got your hopes up with a inflated dyno.

^ Yeah, i really want some good heads and a FAST 90 or 92 and see how it runs. And a New Y with the flow merge.

Yeah I don't expect much more out of that combo in those conditions. Why did you go with so much lift on such a low duration? I don't think it will hurt you but I don't see you gaining much out of it either. and 460 with that cam is total BS on 93 octane on a stock cube motor, he is full of shit. I personally don't think you would see much gain with a 90MM intake, maybe 7-10 HP. If you think that is worth $1200.00 then go for it

^ No it's not BS.. He knows his shit.. It's a PatG Tq cam.. I'm only looking for 440/400 out of my current setup with a better intake and TB. (And his #'s were 459/410, I stand corrected.) That's why I bought this cam. Great drivability and a "baby Cam" as I call it. I am determined to make the same or more power than the MS4 with this cam on an LS1/6 block. I did about 3 years worth of research on cams before I settled on this one. This thing WILL surprise the hell out of people and I intend to do so. I've already walked an MS4 cam with this combo. :|

#'s on page 15.

Disclaimer:
The following info is a little messy because I've dynoed on 3 different dynos in varying forms of trims (street and race).
My best previous dynos were running the Thunder Racing TRak cam (233/235 .644/.598 112LSA). On a nice crisp October morning, I got an exceptionally good dyno (SAE corrected) from Racing Solutions that was 472 rwhp/420 rwtq. When I dropped the catted y-pipe and ran open headers, I gained 6 rwhp/8 rwtq. Dropping the belt gained me another 9-10 rwhp.
Before the RSI dyno, I put down 455/402 on Thunder's dyno (through catted y-pipe and 85mm MAF) and later in Feb '06 I put down 466 rwhp/410 rwtq with open headers and no MAF on Thunder's dyno. Had I run my catted y-pipe, the numbers would have dropped to 460 rwhp/402 rwtq.
In March, I swapped to a Comp XER 234/238 114LSA cam as an experiment and returned back to the RSI dyno. Through the catted y-pipe, the numbers were 458 rwhp/400 rwtq. Sadly, I could not duplicate the stellar numbers from October. Was it an exceptionally good correction number that day? Who knows.

To average things up as best we can, let's throw out the October dyno and look at the dyno numbers that seemed to be repeatable:
Typical numbers for the 233/235 .644/.598 112LSA +2 cam through catted y-pipe in pure street trim were around 461/402 rwhp
For the XE-R 234/238 .598/605 114LSA +2 cam through catted y-pipe in pure street trim were around 458 rwhp/400 rwtq
Today, I went to MTI and dynoed my new Thunder Racing Torque Series 224/228 .637/.639 110LSA +0 cam through a catted y-pipe in pure street form and put down 459/410 rwtq.

Here's how the numbers compare between the cams (averaged):
.......TRak cam..XE-R cam..Torque Cam (rwhp/rwtq)
2500...130/290..128/270...150/320
3000...191/335..183/320...200/350
3500...247/370..233/350...247/370
4000...289/380..282/370...290/382
4500...343/400..338/395...345/402
4800...367/402..366/400...375/410
5000...383/402..381/400...387/406
5500...419/400..416/398...428/409
6000...455/398..453/397...452/396
6300...461/384..458/382...459/383
6500...461/372..458/370...459/371
7000...454/341..452/339...446/335

And here's the dyno sheet:

And updated signature:

Considering Nick's old car made somethng like 460 RWHP with TFS heads and a better intake/cam, I dont see 460 happening. I could be wrong.

I do agree with nick about the duration being short, thats very low for a cam with that much lift. I would have probably been in the 230's minimum.

Your #'s are normal for what you've got.

Patrick knows what he is doing but he won't throw a magic set of pistons/rings into our car. Some car's dyno alot higher than others.

Now,if you want to spend $$ for more gain, here ya go.

SLP headers -dump the equal length garbage and buy 1 7/8 Kooks or ARH. Yes,SLP's do loose power.

FAST intake, don't waste time or $$ on the 85mm TB stuff.

Heads have to be atleast 60cc chambers.

There's a start for ya. It gets expensive chasing those dyno $'s.

Most importantly how happy are you with the way it runs/drives? Don't bet the ranch on dyno numbers alone, they really mean next to nothing. My old set-up only dyno'd 385/387 but ran 11's all day long every day once I got the chassis dialed in and completed the driver mod. I also missed the SLP headers, good eye Don. definitely junk those, they are awful headers

and that was on 110 octane also, my best 93 octane run was 434/426, my cam is very similar to his but I have more duration and less lift. But yeah I had a bigger cam, better heads, the 90MM intake and Kooks longtubes so i wouldn't be disappointed in 414. Take it to the track and see what it really does.

Ahhha!! That's exactly what I was looking for! Thank you much, sir!

It drives almost like stock with mild cam surge on 3.42 gears, but go damn does it pull like a bitch over 3k. I REALLLLLLLLLLLLY want TFS heads, HS rockers, and either ARH or Kooks LT's anyway. My car dyno'd 336/346 with bolt ons only, so I figured the SLP headers were ok. I've asked around and they said there isn't much of a change from LT to LT so I wrote it off, but I still just want newer technology set of LT's and I'm torn between ARH's or Kooks. I was set on ARH, but I've been looking at kooks also as they have a strong reputation behind them, but the ARH design is identical.

Maybe I'm a dyno racer... Dunno yet.. Just started thinking that I might be.
