Default Cars of Summer (formerly Summer Nats)

Ok so looks like Moscoffian is out and new people are taking over. Depending on honeymoon plans, I may or may not be around for this. Would love to check it out and see what, if anything is going to change.

Exactly. They're trying to cut out all the bullshit that's happened to previous shows when Bob was running them and f-cked it up. They've dropped the burnouts, swimsuit/model contest, helicopter rides, and the downtown site as well. They are working on making it a family orientated show again.

You can submit an entry for anything newer, but has to be approved by the guys running the show. MUST have a photo of the car and a list of mods done to it for approval. This is what they're doing to cut out all the shitboxes that would enter the show just to get in and burn off some tires. That part of the show kind of pissed me off, nothing like seeing a beautifully done piece of american muscle next to this shitbox some tool just drove in off the street just because he wanted to do a smoke show with it.

I honestly think their hearts and heads are in the right place, but like everybody else has said, you're losing out on 2 and a half decades of cars! This is their inaugural show so I'm sure that they will be getting a lot of feedback for the upcoming years, provided it goes beyond this one.

This is a great thing! I honestly think 1988 even 1988 is to new of a cutoff date.

The NSRA, Right Coast and Good Guys all put on great shows with either 1972, or 30 years old as a breakpoint.

For those of you that think 1988 isn't fair, you need to look at the other side of the coin too. You think "shitboxes" shouldn't be allowed, but a newer 100% stock car should be allowed just because 'you' think it's the right thing to do?

I think they are doing this perfectly, with how they are choosing cars. If you have something newer, they are allowing you to submit pictures for approval and then they might let you in. If your car is worthy of a show, then you should have no worries. I do lots of shows that work things that way. If they don't accept your car, you need to understand that it is for the betterment of the entire show. The more strict they are with their car quality, the better the show will be.

That was one of the Summer Nats biggest downfalls. They would allow in so many shitboxes, that we all complain about, so then the real higher quality cars would end up staying away.

I now have to see what my schedule is for that weekend.

I hear what you're saying!

But I don't see how someone can be pissed because the organizers are trying to make it a better show. They have to start somewhere and this is only their first year.

As I said earlier, if someone's car is really show worthy, they have nothing to worry about. If they are worried about being "accepted", then maybe they shouldn't be there anyway.

By biggest gripe is why 88? Such a retarded year, so my pos 84 thirdgen can go in and yet someone with a RARE 89 TTA cant? I just dont know how the hell they came up with 88.. also having to submit a photo and such is fucking dumb, so now you rely on someone elses discression if your car is "nice enough" fawk that. What I find nice other people might not. I just think its too much stupid drama, they want to limit cars but honestly they should do what most classic shows do and pre 72.. honestly is there any real nice cars made after that?
