Default Thinking about a change.

Im think since the chassis of my car is getting old. 182k and the floors and rear sub-frames are starting to rust and rot. i want to do a 1998-up Shell with my drivetrain. Yeah this will piss off alot of people BUT find me a mint LT1 shell worth buying that isnt rotting and ill buy that instead. what do you think? fix mine and spend twice as much in the body repairs it needs or buy a 1998-2002 T/A?

yeah exactly and i dont HATE the V6/Formy nose on 98 up cars. al id do is slap a WS6 hood on it and drive it. Plus id be able to set up the LS1 computer and harness before the swap and get the EFI COnnections conversion kit. AND actually be able to pass a plug-in. another thing i need to figure out. buying a newer model year car and the sticker BS that comes with them. i cant just swap over my ECM at that point.

I thought you said at the meet no way to a V6 donor as there was to much to change over far as wiring, suspension, etc?

Now you sound like me.

He is pretty much going to have to change it all over anyway. Keep in mind the floor pans are a different shape in the 98+ cars, may make exhaust routing an issue too. Although it may just be the bracing, the pan might be the same, but check it out. You will also have to swap over your suspension too because the LT1 is alot heavier then the LS1 and will probably cause the nose to drop. At the very leastyou will need a spring change so a V6 car won't make much difference.

I've got a better idea, sell your stuff and get an stock 01-02 LS1, pick up a few tenths at the track to boot

yeah batman NO haha im keping my LT1 shut it!!! and as far as floor pans they are the exact same except were the tranny crossmember bolts up. as far as exhaust and everything else its all the same. and i have all new suspension as far as springs go any way im not worried about that. But i was looking for a 98-up blown motor or high milage But the car HAS to be in good to great shape. i just want out of this rusted shell and into a nice car to trust building onto.
