Default Starting prep for paint, have questions

The car is a 1994 Z28 with the factory original color, which is Metallic Teal (I will be repainting the same color). The engine is black with chrome/ polished parts (alt, brackets, water neck, intake, rails, elbow, TB, supercharger, a/c aluminum and water pump) are all polished. Basically anything that could be polished was and if it couldn't, it was sent out to be chrome dipped. This car will (for the most part be a show car) So the questions......

1). When I pulled the engine I primed the engine bay, should I go gloss black (old school) roof color or body color?

2). Should I shave the door handles and such? I would need to use a "popper system".

3). Keep the Z28 hood or go aftermarket? I like the SS hood but I am not looking to do a clone.

4). Lowering....how much is too much?

5). Wheels..... I have a set of 20's off another project. With the rubber installed the whole wheel is about a 1/8 inch smaller than the salad shooters. There is a lot of 20" hate out there, for a show car would you do it? BTW I have a set of polished Y2K that I was planning to run when track driven. Should I stick with the Y2K and not bother with the 20"s?

Point of note, I am guessing i am a bit older than most of you, I have had quite a few Bowties. I grew up with a 70 RS that was converted from a 307, a 83 4 banger, 88 Iroc, 94 Z28, 89, 98, 00, 03 Corvettes and currently have a 09 C6 and without a doubt the looks of the 4th gen Z is still my favorite.

Thx for the advise.

I'm a fan of the sunoco hood and the harwood hood, I plan on putting a harwood on my car.

As for lowering, what do you have for exhaust? I know with long tubes and stock height I have to crawl over mid to large speed bumps to avoid hitting them on the bottom of the headers. Also, how are the roads in your area?

I have Kooks LT headers. No Cats. Putting on the GMMG exhaust next week.

Roads are pretty good around here and this will not be a DD.

hes got an LT1 Joe.

i say for a show car lower it about an inch with some Good Springs like Stranos. whether you drive it or not they are the best spring for the F-Bodys. keep under the hood factory color. Thats how it came i say leave it. But thats just my Opinion. i think black looks out of place. as far as hood goes im a sucker for the SS hood and think all others are just stuck on unless you need it for clearance of aftermarket carbed intakes. And i say leave the door handles and off set them and paint them roof panel color/Black as well as the mirrors. In my opinion it looks the best on a cool lighter color like your Teal.

Do an SS hood! Really for the LT1 camaros there isn't another hood that looks good. I considered hoods for like a year and idk none of them look good...

and I say do the engine bay body color because if you get a nice ss hood you gonna wanna paint the underside. Would look killer with a body color shell with a black motor sitting in the middle!!

1. Body color engine bay

2. Don't shave door handles

3. Cowl hood

4. 1" drop should be perfect

5. Don't go bigger than 18" wheels
