What could it be?

Alright so I've just developed an issue my Z28. I really hope its not the opti...

So this is the second time this has happened to me but today I was driving home from work, engine was warm no issues driving. I take a right and give it a little less than half throttle and it hesitates slightly. I turn down my music and listen for any noises. Drives fine, no issues. The last street before mine i give it about 3/4 throttle and it backfires and my check engine light turned on. I drove it home parked it listened for any noises only thing is that the idle dropped a bit. I shut off the car let it sit for a few then restarted the car and it was fine. Took it out for a few minutes and gave it a lot of half throttle accelerations and no hesitation no backfire.

Its been wet lately and with all the snow melting I'm really hoping the opti didnt get wet. Could this be something else and I'm jumping the gun? Please let me know, I can't afford to not have a car right now...
