Mine is 25-28% slip right now. Imagine how much faster I'll go with a good converter. I see 7's at 18psi.
The heat is normal. I do races which gives a good hour cool downs. Also start the car and hit the line. No idling, moving in the lanes. You just need to hang out with turbo people. Wasting a lot of $$.
