Default 68 Camaro Convertible for sale

I'm not putting this in the for sale section since I really don't know anything about it.

I got an email:

Quote:
I am helping to get ready for my late uncle's estate sale and thought you or someone in your club might have an interest in the 1968 Camaro SS 396 convertible which he had. It is a one owner with only 28,300 miles and has been very sheltered its entire life. In fact I've never even had a ride in it. The auction is on Friday, April 24 in Shoemakersville, PA.

You may find lots of photos & description at www.auctionzip.com and entering the auctioneer code of 1740. Or you may e-mail me back with questions. Just hoping it finds a home where it is appreciated like he and my aunt appreciated it.

Have a great week.

Phil
The auction looks legit since they are selling their house and everything in it, but I have no real info on this:

Yes, according to this page: http://www.camaros.org/diffs68.shtml

Quote:
All automatic transmissions were column-shift, unless the D55 console was ordered or the M11 (floor shifter) was ordered with the TH400.

That's lame, who orders a big block convertible super sport model then cheaps out on the floor shifter/console option?

I had a 67 SS350 in high school. I would love to have that car back now.

I agree.

Looking at the chart, you could not get an automatic (floor or column) on the Z/28 or the SS L78.

You could get an automatic with the SS L48, SS L35 and SS L34.

My father in law had a 71 trans am with a 455 400 column shifter. White with blue stripe and only 15k mi. Car was 100% original. I always wondered what my brother in law did with that car.
