So assuming Last of A Breeds Formula is what I am looking for I have been already working out a game plan, going to be a very different build then the Trans Am was, going to go more precision then brute force. Lightweight with medium power. So if you guys beg enough I may start leaking info.....
course downside is it will happen at a snails pace cause I have very little spare cash....but hey perfection takes time.....

never said it was gonna be a SBC.....and it will actually be a 5.1, assuming the pistons will come up enough in the bore to keep compression and the geometry works going to do a 4.8 crank with 5.7 rods in an LS1 block. Something that will rev sky high. Since gobs of power won't be important I think it would be a cool engine to try and make. Everyone keeps going big, don't know anyone who has tried something like this. That is why I am hell bent on a 3rd Gen Formula, can fairly easily get the weight down to high 2XXX to low 3XXX pounds without getting stupid like removing crash bars and such. Also with the small displacement I can get away with much cheaper heads and such as something as simple as 243 heads will probably suffice

.010 over, on a 5.7 block the 5.7 rods are shorter then the 4.8 rods, so it changes the dislacement a bit. I think it comes out at 312CI if I remember correctly. So it would have the short stroke crank and the short rods with the 5.7 bore

There in lies the problem, still researching if I will be able to get a piston with enough height to keep some kind of compression in the engine....if not it will be a 5.7 lol. With the lower power levels it will save alot of cash in the drivetrain area also.....which in turn will save more weight. sadly with around 415 Flywheel HP it would probably be damn near as fast as the T/A was.....
