Turn signals work around... ?
i have the '84 digital push button dash and my signals switch doesnt work anymore. all my buttons look fine, so i dont want to buy another used pod for 100$ with faded buttons just so my signals switch works, then again, im trying to get my car back to the track asap and dont want to spend the $100 bucks on anything that isnt in the drivetrain needed to get me back to the track.
so, i have a 6-prong 3-way momentary toggle switch and im trying to figure out the wiring to use it instead of the stock switch. has anyone else done this yet or got any ideas? ive started watching my local junkyard also for my type dash, trouble is they only used the push button dash for 3 years, '83 - '85 i think, so, its not like they are flying in everyday. |

and they only used it int he Berlinetta if memory serves. Shouldn't be hard to figure out, get a volt meter and find out which leads are hot depending on switch position and which are grounds. The other ones are illumination and you won't need them

well.
A.] i dont think i have a volt meter. i had one, and it was a victim of our 2006 flood we had here. B.] i didnt exactly know how to use it anyway. :P i did use a test light on the soldered points where the wires meet the circuit board and NONE were hot. plus, even if it did, the switch doesnt work, so it would be hard for me to test anything using the switch, right? i had pulled out my hayes camaro book and studied the wiring diag. for a bit. tried splicing in some leads with 3m clips and hooked the them up to my toggle momentary switch.. but could get any results. but there HAS to be a way to work around that stoopid signals switch. when looking at the wiring diag., im wondering if somehow the signals switch is connected to the hazards switch somehow, the hazards btw do work.

as far as i can tell there is no hot going into the signals pod at all, yet, the headlights, parking lights and hazards all work. which, doesnt make any sense to me either.
http://i670.photobucket.com/albums/v...f/DSCF0070.jpg http://i670.photobucket.com/albums/v...f/DSCF0068.jpg ok, in the pic of the pod from behind, the wire all the way to the left, kid of a faded orange, when the parking lights are on, this shows hot on my test light. if i touch the 2nd yellow from the right, that turns ON the hazard lights. if i touch one of the White wires, it turns off the parking lights. but the parking lights off, that faded orange wire does not show hot. and as i go down and touch each other of the soldered points, none turn on the signals [except the hazards] and none show hot. is this because of the stoopid lights controller? there has to be an easier way to make the signals work, how do the guys building street rods from nothing hook up their signals. know what i mean?

i got it fixed. kinda feel like a dumbass too. as it turns out, the face plate that holds the signal pod too the dash wasnt allowing the paddle part of the switch enough room for full range movement, i got out a flat file and opened the hole in the face plate a little more and voila', turn signals working!
