Default Good or not so good deal?

Dealer has 2000 Z28 convertible with 117K. 6m with leather seats, SS Hood and sport package, don't know what other option package it has. I can buy it for 4K. The bad...Has a large rip in the top where a branch from the tree above the dealership broke off and landed on the car. Minor scratches on fender and hood from same branch (most I think can be hidden with touch up paint), power steering is leaking from the rack (he said he would fix it but he sells trucks, not sure how much of a pain it is to fix the rack in a 4th gen) the shifter bar is disconnected so if you pull straight up the bar and knob will come out of the console (thinking there must be a pin that is broken) and it has the typical wear/hole in the drivers seat and both front tires are junk. What should I look for at 117K? How much to repair or replace the top. 4K seems like a hell of a deal but it is not if the top and repairs are crazy $$.

Thoughts?

I'm not convinced that it is really a great deal with the work that it needs. Even mint 4th gens aren't bringing in huge money nowadays. Have you looked into what is entailed in replacing the top?

To make it mint again you will be into it for give or take 5500$ for a vert you are on par so is it a great deal no is it a decent buy yes if it is what you are looking for. Right now fbodies are selling for shit you can get a mint well modded one for 6-8k with lower miles

The stick and vert is what drew me in. The top is cheap ($300) but to install is like $1000. It is crazy how inexpensive these cars are getting. A cam and tune away from 400hp for less then 5K total. Nutz.

thats a 3k dollar car. with all the work it needs. and the rack is a bitch. the bolts go in from the top. right bellow the oil pan. so you have to lift motor up off mounts in order to remove them and rack.
