The bolt pattern is the same though isn't it? Only other thing I'm trying to sort out is what to use for a clutch that's will fit inside the bellhousing.

the bellhousing between the 2 are diiferent. were they bolt to the tranny are the same. BUT a 2.8 and 3.8 have COMPLETLY different bellhousing bolt configurations on the motor itself. also the 3.8 uses an LS1 style throw out bearing/slave cylinder. your going to have to figure what clutch system will fit that setup. if the factory throw out will bolt to thet flange. if not there is no provision for an external slave cylinder on the 3.8 bellhousing.

I have looked into this a lot myself and it is true that that adapter plate will work with the 3800 t5 bellhousing, there are a few guys that have down it to v6 camaros out there and I talked to the company that makes the adapter plate directly, it'll work for a 3.8

Now that I'm getting confirmation that it works it's looking like I'm going to make it happen. I'm about 90% sold on doing this, unless the right deal on an lt1 motor, or ls1 swap parts present themselves in the next month or so...

Black hartbeat, any links to info on a succesfully completed swap? And what's the best forum out there for 3800 hop up info?

v6f-body.com, 3800pro.com, fullthrottlev6.com, camarov6.com, those are the best ones I've found. Join them and post a thread on each about your swap and you'll get some more info on it. And don't listen to people that will tell you the car doesn't have enough power to turn the t56 because thats a load of shit. Honestly I don't know what it will do in 6th gear, but I know that gear ratios from 1-5 in the t56 are the same as the t5. It will run the same in those gears as it would in the t5, but you may need to be really flying before you can throw it into 6th. I'll see if I can find some links to send you but I'm only on here on weekends right now and will probably not be on here at all soon because I don't have a computer at "college" and I won't able to come home and use the computer here every weekend

oh, and if you are interested in a turbo system, don't go for force fed fabrications kit, it's sooooooooooooo fucking overpriced. $5000 plus price of turbo. Ya thats right, $5000 for pre-bent plumbing and a wastegate, intercooler will cost you extra. Make your own or go with a shitty ebay special turbo kit and fit it to your engine. Swap the internals out for that of an l67 bottom end, or just go so far as to get a series two l67 3800 out of a lesabre or something like that. Or if you want to just get an whole new motor with the same specs as the L36 3800 that you have in your bird but will all forged internals that you will need for forced induction, Sam's Pull-a-part in worcestor MA is good for series two L67 3800's. Motor is $180 if you pull it. That would be complete from charger to oil pan. Sam's is in the phone book as Linder's Inc. And if you want to know about M90 supercharger builds.....well that a whole other can of worms, it's simple yet when you really get into it, it's an absolute pain in the ass. Merlin and Inferno on 3800pro are the ones to ask really. Merlin's build is descent but kind of half assed, but Inferno has researched the shit out of his and really knows what he is talking about, even tho he hasn't yet completed it.

A lot of turbo 3800 guys will use an L26 engine. 2005+ are stronger and can be had cheap. They have a returnless fuel system and DBW TB but they don't have to be used. I have seen a few thirdgen.org 3800 swaps, I'll see if I can find a some threads.

Any links are appreciated. The more I think about this the more I'm liking the idea. I actually found a possible lt1 donor but now I'm not so sure I even want it lol. Might be fun to play with this. And it should handle better with the extra weight off the nose and further back. This car has always been my corner carver, not my horsepower monster. I want to roadrace it and my main competition is my fiancées wrx. Just want it to get out of it's own way. If I can manage 400-450 at the flywheel I'm satisfied I think. If I can get it to hold 14psi on meth injection I bet ill come real close.
